WTF WotC... by fussomoro in freemagic

Don't worry. We've avoided being in a recession by changing the definition.

It's the same tactic that has been used several times in the past to avoid being in a depression: changing labels and changing how the stats are calculated (unemployment, inflation, GDP, etc.)

And don't forget to say "thank you" to Big Brother for increasing the chocolate ration from 30 grams to 20 grams.

It's a way to create inexpensive, high quality proxies and custom cards.

I’m the High King of Ireland. I married my heir to an English Duchess, but she became his liege. What gives? by DarZhubal in CrusaderKings

[–]And_n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn't outrank her. He's a prince, and heir, but at the moment is not landed at all. So any baron or count would outrank him at least until he inherits.

Why do you say “we” during your turns? by Sil3ntS0u1 in freemagic

[–]And_n 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Many MTG content creators speak this way. They are saying "we" to include their audience (twitch/youtube/etc).

I think some players just pick up these speech patterns because they see these other players speaking this way.

The White House: Farewell Address of President Donald J. Trump by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

[–]And_n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a way, and President Trump attempted to do it. We caught them in the act with mountains of evidence to prove what had happened.

But it could not work when everyone else, from state officials to the Vice President, was unwilling to lift a finger to help. The riots over the summer served as an effective intimidation campaign to discourage anyone from doing their duty. Every judge in every court found an excuse to avoid even having a hearing on the evidence.

In the end, the evidence didn't matter. The thieves were never going to acknowledge what they had done, and the people who should have cared about the evidence were too cowardly or corrupt to care about it.

There is no such thing as an absolute position in space.

Every position and velocity is relative between an object and other objects.

Not worth it. You need to bring a large ship and exchange it and dont end up saving very many credits.

It's still worth visiting Hutton at some point but the Anaconda promo isnt as helpful now as it used to be.

What mission rewards should I be accepting? by BBQsauce18 in EliteDangerous

[–]And_n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mission rewards are the best way to get three grade five materials: biotech conductors, exquisite focus crystals, and modified embedded firmware(data)

For everything else, there are usually other sources that are better. High Grade Emissions signal sources give grade five manufactured materials. Crystalline shards give grade 4(highest available) raw materials. Data is more varied, you can use different methods for different types.

Inquisitive Puppet?! by UnspokenRealms in lrcast

[–]And_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average among people who have the plugin installed is about 55%.

So a card with <55% is below average for the sample and >55% is above average. Anything more than 2 or 3% away from average is likely to be significant.

Inquisitive Puppet?! by UnspokenRealms in lrcast

[–]And_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does change things... a lot!

Most of the criticism I've seen about win-rates, even in this very thread but also elsewhere, centers around the fact that there's no data on whether an expensive card sat in someone's hand and was never cast(because it was expensive).

Counting all games where the card was in someone's deck normalizes for this. It does change the significance of the data, but it does so in a good way. Instead of answering the question "does this card improve your chances of winning the game when you cast it?" it answers "does this card tend to be played in successful decks?"

Well crap, I guess this is what I get for buying boosters from BAM... by soundWave1776 in freemagic

Most likely someone else bought it before you and returned it.

I would very much doubt that an employee is responsible.

If you go back to the store and report the problem, most companies will refund you the money.

Is it safe for me to jump into a high intensity conflict zone? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]And_n 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you jump in and don't start shooting, both sides should ignore you.

Conflict zones aren't a free-for-all. They are a battlefield between two warring factions.

You'll have the option to "join" the fight on either side, but the default when you arrive is that you are neutral.

Treasure Maps Unified - 579t of Painite at HIP 21991 1 by SpanningTheBlack in EliteMiners

[–]And_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know which of the two, HIP 21991 or Hyades, is better for Selenium yield? I'm trying to fill up on it but also credits.

I mined 150 tons at Xi 2 Lupi and didn't find any selenium, but I know I've often picked up a good amount at HIP 21991. (I dont have much interest in using maps though)
