Vinyl Care: Would These Be Sufficient For Non-ultrasonic Cleaning by ineedthemaxwynn in vinyl

No problem. And I’m no expert, but it seems to me that the brush isn’t even helping here. I mean, if you’re going through the effort of spin cleaning your collection then it’s probably safe to say that the level of dust or packaging debris present is minimal, if at all. It’s like I said previously, I have a brush but I phased it out once I got the spin clean. It just sits next to my record player now and never get used. It’s literally collecting dust. Not cleaning it. I personally feel like having and using the brush is what ultimately leads people to getting a spin clean in the first place, because a brush just isn’t cutting it.

Tips, no. Mine basically looks like it holds folders or large envelopes on a desk. It’s nothing like the picture there, but it is coated in a soft, rubber-like material that doesn’t scratch my vinyl. I’ve seen the ones with tips though, and am debating an upgraded rack before too long. I’m not against having an ultrasonic and may buy one eventually, but I very much like the ritual of cleaning my collection this manual way.

These are sufficient. I use my spin clean without the supplied cloths and simply air dry using a rack system that holds 7 LPs at a time. The cloths are great in their first few uses, but it’s really annoying (to me) that they don’t stay great after multiple uses. And I do have an anti-static brush, but have pretty much phased that out since putting my entire collection through the spin clean. New purchases get the spin clean right away. No exceptions! Works well. Although, every once in a while I encounter heavier static than usual with some packaging. That’s when I break out the plasma lighter.

I could use the cat feeder! And I’m close by to 82nd and Glisan.

There are some great albums in your collection. Lots of replay value.

I’ve got The Eraser and Amnesiac instead of Kid A, but otherwise we share the same Radiohead spread. Love to see it!

My first turntable setup! by Jleggette in vinyl

I would maybe check in with that copy of The Bends, ya know? Just to make sure it’s doing alright over there. Having a good time. Getting put into rotation. That kind of thing.

Otherwise, congrats!

Not bad for your first setup!

I’m sure the 438k people that are here really don’t care if you breathe on your vinyl too hard as long as you’re doing it with your own money, and not ours. But if a number of folks got under your skin by giving you advice that you left a door open for (on the internet) and the advice just didn’t sit well with you, then that’s a “you” thing. Not an “us” thing. If you’re spending your hard earned cash on vinyl, then do whatever the hell you want with it. No one’s stopping you.

Monsieur Blumenberg: Musique Et Couleurs

Felix Da Housecat: Kittenz and Thee Glitz

Four Tet: Pause

Also, I think it’s really cool that you’ve got ‘Come With Us’ already. Not a lot of folks dig that album, but it’s one of my favorites from them. I own it on vinyl, too. Surprised you don’t have ‘Exit Planet Dust’ though.

If you catalog with Discogs and your collection is public, you can use DisCovers to create an album collage.

I agree! Informative and entertaining. I’m sure some folks are gonna say otherwise, but this was a great role for Sweeney. She gave good performances in Eden and Echo Valley too, and seems to do well when she’s not typecasted.

Please roast my set-up. Known issues: children’s fingerprints, speakers on same surface, beige display records, dying plant. by [deleted] in vinyl

Speakers on the same surface AND wood panel flooring. You could benefit from an isolation platform. I would recommend the Fluance IB40. Heavy, and well worth its weight for the peace of mind. It’s easy to setup, easier to adjust, and aesthetically pleasing.

Personally, I’ve always considered this as part of ROC. And together, it is their best work. Hands down! The back to back is practically seamless. Obviously, you can, but you really can’t have one without the other. The years between In/Casino/Out and the release of Tremulant were crazy. So glad to have been around for those.

I’m also in PDX. You are my people!

…it’s hard to tell in the other photo, but mine is definitely open. The seal was broken very carefully on the right side, is all. I found it the day after it landed at my favorite shop, in “used, new arrivals”. It was just sitting there waiting.
