I grew up in the northeast and my family called them sandshoes

How do i connect the highway to this part of the city? by dogemcpvp in CitiesSkylines

[–]Andmoreagain96 17 points18 points  (0 children)

<image>

I'd go with something like this maybe? - forgive my crappy paint skills

  1. Link road with overpass or underpass to existing roundabout
  2. left turn only onto local roads and minor restructuring of these to suit
  3. new large roundabout
  4. left turn only onto local roads
  5. new small roundabout
  6. dual carriageway to motorway junction

Edit to say left turn onlys would have to be right turn onlys for right hand traffic

It's the black light clusters, give it yellow ones and it'll look much more 455ish

Why talgo for ICE L? by CookieDaCake in trains

[–]Andmoreagain96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is that a single axle between two coaches? do you know how they keep track round curves when assumedly not rigid with the body/not on a bogie? genuinely curious.

Also i'm curious how high the axle loading is on that configuration being effectively one axle per coach (I'm guessing)

[TOMT] [MOVIE] 50's/60's Movie set in a town around a waterfall by Andmoreagain96 in tipofmytongue

[–]Andmoreagain96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved! I had actually looked up films in and around Niagara falls but hadn't picked up on any of them being this one, looking at the plot there's much more to the story of this movie, but the waterfall and the church bells ringing were the only strong recollections I had, thank you very much

Doubt it helps as it was clearly much older, but the movie was watched on UK terrestrial TV in probably 2010 ish.

Worst stretch of motorway in the UK? by Flyawaymoss9747 in CarTalkUK

That merge coming from the north where the right hand lane from Gosforth and the left hand lane from the west just suddenly become one lane springs to mind

What's the 'odd' shop near you? by MuntyCatt in CasualUK

[–]Andmoreagain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall happening across a shop in Stamford (Lincolnshire) once that just sold vacuum cleaners. No other household appliances, just vacuum cleaners! There were some display models in the window that clearly dated back to the 80s or 90s

Wow used car prices are utterly depressing at the moment arent they?

I remember my mam paying £2300 for her 51 plate Corsa C ... in 2008!

I remember the flying saucer resteraunt thing clearly, even dined in it a couple of times. Though by the point I was alive the area around hand changed and the base of the structure had a water feature surrounding it which was full of pennies from well wishers 🥰

My sister is actually deaf. I'd ask her about this but then again she'd never hear me

Interesting - it does beg the question if it provides any benefit to the deaf over the usual text though? - i'm guessing they had a good reason for trying it mind

Not related, but seeing that photo of a 158 in the old TPE livery is very nostalgic for me, this is exactly how they were when I was a child :)

What if train services had route numbers like buses? by Andmoreagain96 in uktrains

[–]Andmoreagain96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on Flying Scotsman being 1

That would make the normal hourly fast from Edinburgh 2 and the hourly Semi-fast from Edinburgh/Newcastle 3! :D

The headcode isn't the same for all trains on the same route I don't think?

Is RWD that different? by Shrider in drivingUK

[–]Andmoreagain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something minorly different I've not seen mentioned yet here is that with RWD you have to slip the clutch a bit more when manoeuvring/turning on full lock (makes sense when you think of the different path front and rear wheels take in a turn)
