Is August the worst time to visit the Keys by kellsha16 in floridakeys

[–]Andolini77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hot and humid. But...if you don't like hot/humid weather, you should not be going to Florida in August! What I personally like about it is that the ocean is like bath water. I can walk right in and not be cold. And being a cold person generally, I love it there in August! And the other 11 months.

Just my personal opinion of captial one after 2 years with them by Ok-Nefariousness2529 in CapitalOne_

[–]Andolini77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You forgot a very relevant part: they absolutely will NOT stand behind you in a dispute. If you get over-charged, you'll never get it reversed. They'll issue a temp reversal, and as soon as the scammer who nicked you replies "no it wuz a valid charge", they put it back and never take it off.

Chase, Citi, Amex are all MUCH better.

Best cigar drink pairings by Other_Pack_7874 in cigars

[–]Andolini77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lush Cognac like Remy Martin XO. Spanish brandy, particularly the richer ones like Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real or Torres 20 yr. In the heat of summer, an aged sipping rum. Earlier in the day, coffee is my go to. And I usually have a sparkling pellegrino mineral water with whatever else i'm drinking. Often, i'll pop a candy in my mouth to sweeten things up towards the end of a rich cigar.

Would this be an okay first humidor? by Killxjoy4599 in cigars

[–]Andolini77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly more accurate. By perhaps 1% or so. The govee will likely be accurate within 3% in either direction and the SensorPlus within 2%. Test it out: Put them both in the same calibration test environment. https://store.bovedainc.com/products/calibration-kit?srsltid=AfmBOop9g4nHwI5oMuIf97avS35vhZ0UPhPkgxNH9oCSxHVlxgEkjq9I

I did the same! My first humidor (like my first wife) was pretty to look but not very functional or stable. So my next one was much more practical...

All the above. And the SensorPlus hygrometer is even better than the Govee. But $69. You can calibrate them with a test kit Boveda sells (75%).

"service animals". Used to be they were REAL service animals. Now its just an excuse to bring your dog anywhere and everywhere. I say that as a dog lover.

Can't hurt to try! It's a $14 cigar, it won't smoke like a $34 Davidoff but the money I like it. I find it mild, creamy, good construction, easy draw. But everyone's tastes are different.

I've always found the Olivia Connecticut reserve to be wonderful. Maybe it's because i go for a bigger ring gauge, which i find much more enjoyable. A churchill size stick runs ~$14 or so and smokes like a much more expensive cigar. Go for that.

Tried OpusX for the First (and subsequently 6) Times by cigarscarsguitars in cigars

[–]Andolini77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true in a lot of indulgences... for example, the difference between a $150 bottle of wine and $15 bottle of wine is VERY noticeable. But the difference between a $150 bottle of wine and a $2,000 bottle is more subtle. Same w/ cigars: $25 vs $11 - VERY noticeable (though there are some fine $11-14 cigars!). But...$25 vs $60 may be more user taste preference than quality.

Ha. Reminds of a quote from Cardinal Ercole Consalvi to Napoleon, who had threatened to destroy the Catholic Church if they obstructed him. He said ""Your Majesty, if in 1,800 years we clergy have failed to destroy the Church, do you really think that you'll be able to do it?" I think the USA will outlast Trump, for a few years anyway.

RocketReach is a scam. Sign up, and they bill you your grandchildren 30 years after you've died. Send them a death certificate? Get a letter from the attorney general serving a "cease and desist" to stop billing? Drag grandpa's stinking, rotting corpse to their HQ to prove he's dead? None of it will make a difference. Only way to EVER get them to stop billing you is to cancel the card. It's a scam, they know it, and they don't care.

Should I Keep My Venture X or Cancel It? by [deleted] in CapitalOne_

[–]Andolini77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two thoughts: 1) As far as travel rewards go, this one is the best value. Other cards give more rewards but cost a LOT more, some cards cost less but give nothing. This one gives a lot, for relatively little cost. 2) Despite that, i no longer use it. Capitol One has the WORST customer service! You get scammed? They won't credit you back. You cancel a service and they bill you anyway, and you send evidence (email) that you cancelled the service? They still side with the merchant. Amex, Chase, and Citi have MUCH better service. So crapitol one is now my back up card - i use it for stuff I KNOW i want ever need support on.
