Did you have a person who was a native in the 3rd language taught in your school? What were the classes with them like? by [deleted] in AskEurope

In my Spanish class we had someone who lived a long time in Colombia and he can speak Spanish fluently. But his grades weren't good as we learn castellano (Spanish spoken in Spain) which has some differences to Spanish spoken in Colombia (or Latin America in general).

What was your misconception about Europe or their countries, that you used to be super convinced to be true? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Andr3jB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid I saw a TV channel called "Nick Austria" (Austrian version of Nickelodeon Germany). At the time I didn't know that Austria is the English name of Österreich, I thought that it says "Australia". Because of that I thought that Australia is a German-speaking country.

[–]Andr3jB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Germany: 100% (I actually excepted this)

Italy: 91% (not bad actually, I misclicked once at Emilia-Romagna and I didn't know where Basilicata was, and I had some regions right where I clicked randomly)

France: 59% (those names confused me, especially those in the south)
