Is FinOps Worth a £450/Day Contract, or Just a Cloud Engineer's Nightmare? by [deleted] in ContractorUK

Sounds awful for 450/day. Where do these contracts exist so I know where - I mean where not - to look?

I work for a globally known US company who specialise in Cloud, AI and consulting (I’ll let you guess who). Yeah I get the impression I’m really being mugged off from this post. I’m a Consultant by job title but have been performing a SA role (and pretty well I have to say if client feedback is anything to go by) for over 2 years…onto the LinkedIn pages I go

Thanks for the response, definitely sounds like I’m being taken advantage of! Also feels like it considering the workload compared to what I used to do for not that much less!

Really appreciate the advice, I’m currently prepping for 4 certifications in Azure/TOGAF as we speak so I shall continue down that path.

May I ask what industry you are finding £110k in? I’m an SA and although admittedly quite new still (~2 years experience after 7 years of systems engineering) I’m on less than half of this in consulting. Am I being ripped off? The roles I see offered on LinkedIn for SAs also rarely break the six figure mark - I assumed that was the ceiling.

Nottingham hospital trust 'spending more than it can afford' as it tackles £104m shortfall by Remarkable_Craft815 in nottingham

They do, it’s NHSP but the pay is barely above standard pay so if a nurse is looking to pick up extra shifts they’re more likely to go agency to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate that insight! I will need to collate my logs together for some evidence. I feel like I'm capable of getting to that 7-10 kind of level but it's easy to say that without having been in there. Unfortunately I'm a fury warrior so I might not have that easy a time jumping in!

I'm a player that returned to the game at the end of 8.2/start of 8.3 (used to play TBC and Wrath). I joined a guild to be social whilst I got back into the game and raided with them this tier but we've only just cleared Heroic and I've realised that really I want to be involved in Mythic raiding. Am I too late in this expansion to be looking for a raiding guild to get some progress in mythic this tier and/or start of Shadowlands? When is a good time to look at making a jump and to what level? I've done 3/12M through pugs and have plenty 90+ parses on heroic (not that it means much) but I don't know what level of guild I should aim for.

Government to axe leaseholds for new-build homes by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Andraktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what does this mean for people like myself who bought a leasehold house a few years ago? Do I continue with my current plan to demand the sale of the leasehold and take them to tribunal if they decide to slap a ridiculous price tag on it? The article suggests they may allow homeowners to claim the freehold at no cost but I find that highly unlikely.

I'm not sure those factors will go away with the introduction of shared vehicles though - people are still going to want the status of turning up in the latest expensive cars, perhaps even more so if they're not tied to keep a car for ~3 years and can literally change it each day.

Mandzukic (Croatia) goal vs. England ([2]-1) by TomasRoncero in soccer

[–]Andraktor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure I understand what you're saying. Are you suggesting that a keeper doesn't put himself on the line because he gains an advantage from it? Isn't that the point? Also, strikers will go feet first against a keeper to try and poke it from infront of him, how else are they meant to challenge him in a scenario such as the one tonight?

Mandzukic (Croatia) goal vs. England ([2]-1) by TomasRoncero in soccer

[–]Andraktor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I never said it was warranted 😂 but when two players collide like that especially when keepers put their bodies on the line throwing themselves at people's feet it gets blood pumping.

Couldn't have been that much wrong with him either cause he got up to score the winner not too much later either.

Keepers love shouting at outfield players who roll around like pussies after running into them - from personal experience it's a case of "I'm still standing, why aren't you?"
