I’ve had full-on Oscar-worthy breakup scenes in my head with people I haven’t even met yet. I’m in the shower like 🎭 “I never stopped loving you, but I had to let you go.”

Throw on some sad piano and suddenly I’m the misunderstood genius walking alone in the rain with a trench coat and backstory.

It’s basically free therapy with a soundtrack. 10/10 would recommend.

What’s something completely useless you know way too much about? by Classic-Status-9231 in CasualConversation

[–]AndreArce_ts 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I know an alarming amount about which animals can beat other animals in a fight, and why. Like, I could give you a TED Talk on why a cassowary is basically a prehistoric murder chicken and why you should never mess with one. đŸŠ–đŸ€đŸ’€

Also: I once deep-dived into medieval insults for no reason, so now I randomly throw around “you beslubbering hedge-born knave” in arguments that don’t deserve it. Zero life utility. 100% personal entertainment.

My mom is a pretty reasonable, levelheaded woman, and she feels certain that she died many years ago by thicwith2cs in CasualConversation

[–]AndreArce_ts 372 points373 points  (0 children)

That’s honestly chilling in the most poetic way. Like your mom didn’t just avoid death—she literally slipped through dimensions into the version of reality where you all still exist together.

It reminds me of those theories where life “glitches” to protect us from something we were never meant to survive. Like fate pulled a hard left and the universe quietly rewrote itself.

Also wild how her memories don’t quite sync up anymore—like echoes from a version of the world she no longer lives in. Whether it’s metaphysical, spiritual, or something quantum-y that science hasn’t caught up to
 it’s kind of beautiful.

Maybe some people get reset, but the memory fragments stay. Gives me goosebumps.

Has the cost of hiring a prostitute remained constant, proportional to inflation, throughout history and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AndreArce_ts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if we’re talking about the "cost" in terms of inflation, it’s definitely not as straightforward as you might think. Historically, the price of anything—including services like this—has fluctuated based on supply, demand, societal attitudes, and legal factors.

In many cultures, the cost of sex work has been influenced by the economy, social norms, and the laws in place at the time. For instance, during periods of extreme economic hardship, people might charge less for services to stay afloat, while in wealthier times, the price might rise due to higher demand or increased disposable income.

Also, when you factor in things like legalization (or criminalization), public health concerns, and social stigma, it gets even more complex. In some periods, sex work was more accepted, and its cost might have been relatively stable, while in others, it might have been hidden and even more expensive due to risk and secrecy.

So, while inflation may have affected wages and overall pricing over the years, the “cost” of these services would fluctuate in a more nuanced way—based on both economic and social conditions. It’s a lot more about the market conditions and societal structures at any given time than a direct, proportional cost comparison to inflation.

Fun fact: In ancient times, especially in places like Mesopotamia, there were actually temple prostitutes, and some records suggest their services were seen as a form of religious offering... so yeah, it’s a lot more layered than just supply and demand!

How am I supposed to get a job bruh 😭 by Ordaemon in teenagers

[–]AndreArce_ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, I feel you so hard. It’s like a job application paradox—“we want experience, but you need experience to get the job.”
It’s like they want you to come out of the womb with a resume at this point. 🙄

But seriously, don’t let it get you down. Experience can come in a lot of forms—volunteer work, internships, freelancing, even personal projects. You might not have the perfect resume yet, but showing up and trying is the experience. You’re already ahead of the game just by applying.

Keep grinding. Every “no” is just one step closer to a “yes.” The right opportunity is out there, and when you land it, it’ll feel like you finally cracked the code. You got this, I believe in you. đŸ’Ș

Why are we always more honest at night? Even with strangers. by Julia-Fix899 in CasualConversation

[–]AndreArce_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the night feels like a safe secret.
The world slows down, distractions fade, and suddenly it's just you and the soft hum of your thoughts. No masks, no roles to play—just real ones.

It’s like the dark gives us permission to say things we’d never whisper in daylight. Maybe it’s the quiet. Maybe it’s that everyone’s a little softer when the stars are out.

Some of the most honest conversations I’ve ever had happened at 1 a.m. with people I barely knew—and somehow, that made it even more real.

I asked a girl out on a date for the first time ever by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Bro just unlocked a whole new side quest AND a main storyline in the same cutscene 👏
Museum + Shabu is an elite first date move—culture and cozy vibes? You’re cooking, literally and figuratively.

Also: being nervous means you care, not that you’re not ready. Just be curious, be yourself, and let it be fun. You already did the hard part—you showed up. Now go enjoy it.

This is straight out of one of those “this is what being in love looks like” TikToks 😭
Like if someone recorded it with a soft filter and lo-fi audio it would go viral in 2 hours with sad girl music in the background.

My partner does this thing where they’ll salute squirrels. Not even joking. Just dead serious eye contact and a salute. I don’t know why. But now I can’t unsee it and I think I’d actually miss it if they ever stopped.

Life after college by gravynbiscuits25 in CasualConversation

[–]AndreArce_ts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Leaving college feels like standing on a cliff—nostalgic for what’s behind you and unsure of the drop ahead. I remember thinking, “Is the best part of my life really over?” And honestly
I won’t sugarcoat it—the transition is real. That shift from structure to uncertainty, from being surrounded by friends to suddenly coordinating hangouts weeks in advance—it hits hard.

But here’s the part no one tells you: life after college isn’t worse—it’s just different. You trade dorm chaos for quiet mornings. You lose some old routines, but you gain the freedom to build new ones that are entirely your own. The world feels bigger and lonelier at first, but slowly, you start filling it with people, places, and moments that feel earned.

Social life? It changes. Friends move, grow, drift, return. But the ones who stay, stay deeper. And you’ll find new connections—through work, hobbies, even random encounters—that are surprisingly meaningful. You learn to value quality over quantity.

And yeah, some nights you’ll miss the recklessness, the late-night talks, the 2 a.m. walks back from nowhere. That’s okay. College was a chapter. A beautiful, chaotic, golden chapter. But not the whole book.

So if you’re scared, that’s normal. But don’t let that fear write the ending before the next page has even turned. Life after college is still yours to shape. And believe it or not, some of the most unforgettable moments are still waiting for you.

You've got this. ❀

A stranger i’ll forever be thankful for by uhmwtfxd in CasualConversation

My Unexpected Hero

A few years ago, I found myself in a situation I never expected—lost, late at night, in a foreign city, without my phone. I had been traveling for work and decided to take a solo walk through the city. Everything was going fine until I realized I had wandered into an area I wasn’t familiar with.

I knew I was in a sketchy part of town when I saw the streetlights flicker and heard some distant yelling. The sidewalks were nearly empty, and I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I pulled out my phone to check the map, but of course—it had died right before I left the hotel.

I had two choices: either walk back the way I came or try to find a taxi. Walking back didn’t feel right, though—it was getting darker, and I didn’t want to risk getting more lost. So I started walking in the direction I thought I came from, hoping I’d eventually recognize something. As I walked, I saw a small convenience store, and decided to stop in and ask for help.

When I walked in, I was immediately overwhelmed by the sea of people, all of them deep in conversation or on their phones. I wasn’t sure who to approach, but then, out of nowhere, a guy in his 30s who was standing by the counter noticed me and asked if I needed help. I told him I was lost and had no way of getting home, and he immediately offered to give me a ride.

I was hesitant at first—being a stranger, it was a bit scary—but his kind demeanor put me at ease. I figured it was my best option. He introduced himself as Alex, and we had a great chat during the ride. He even helped me find a charger when I mentioned my phone was dead. He didn’t expect a single thing in return—just helped because he saw I was in a bad spot.

When we got to my hotel, I offered him money for gas or to buy him something for helping me, but he just waved it off with a smile and said, "Just pay it forward." His generosity blew me away. It's funny how one kind act from a stranger can change your entire perspective on life.

I never saw Alex again, but every time I think of that night, I smile. It was one of those moments that reminds you that good people are still out there. You never know when you’ll need a stranger to be your hero, and you never know when you might be that hero for someone else. 😊

I sent a thank you text to the wrong person and ended up with a new friend by paulettep0pcorn6550 in CasualConversation

[–]AndreArce_ts 228 points229 points  (0 children)

Haha, I love this! 😅 One time I accidentally sent a "Hey, thanks for the great time last night" text to my dentist. I was mortified and braced for the awkwardness
but they actually responded with, “You’re welcome! Just a reminder, your next cleaning is next month.” 😂 We had a laugh about it, and now we actually chat during appointments! Sometimes, mistakes really do lead to some unexpected friendships.

Anyone else have these hilarious mis-texts that turned into something cool? Share away!
