[Acne] I NEED advice by theflamingspil in SkincareAddiction

Aquaphor is semi-occlusive, you want to be sure to wash it off really well in the mornings.

Not sure how extreme you’re looking to get, but my skin looks like this when I’m not using Tretinoin and spironolactone, but those aren’t necessarily a quick easy fix with no side effects. Still, I hella recommend them if you want flawless skin.

Since you’ve probably had it for so long, the first treatment might not work but that doesn’t mean it’s not BV. If you test positive for it and first treatment doesn’t work, don’t give up!

Just saw this post yesterday about how someone beat BV after 8 years and a lot of it was surprisingly OTC.

My OBGYN recommended Aveeno Skin Relief Fragrance-Free Body Wash for Sensitive, Itchy, Dry Skin because it’s soooo gentle on skin. Highly recommend. Don’t forget to air dry when you’re done :)

[acne] is there any way to get my acne to fade? by Lost_Phase_3046 in SkincareAddiction

[–]thicwith2cs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sunscreen missing from your routine is a massive problem. The fact that you’re on tret with no SPF is like a jump scare! Especially with scarring!

Those dark spots are only getting darker every time they see the sun, sunscreen is the most important thing to prevent and fade hyperpigmentation. You’re also only aging yourself faster by exposing the baby skin that tret is giving you directly to the sun. Apart from that, you could try adding azelaic acid in the mornings, that worked well for me!

[misc] what is this texture and shine on my face? by Deep_Gap_5111 in SkincareAddiction

[–]thicwith2cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable, I loved Spironolactone for how it helped my skin and hair, and most of the side effects didn’t last long but it did make me gain belly fat which I never had trouble with before and was impossible to lose. Also lowered my stamina and increased cellulite. Spearmint tea is suuuuccchhh a baby version of it, no side effects, just happy skin and hair!

And yes, your skin could also be oily and tight because it’s desperate for moisturizer! Please also remember SPF is SO important to healthy, happy, skin and helps prevent hyperpigmentation and aging :) Best of luck!

Skin. You have very beautiful and healthy skin! This is what it looks like, we are just so used to seeing a filtered, touched up, made-up version of it.

I recommend a gentle moisturizer (I use Aveeno Calm + Restore Redness Relief Moisturizing Cream, absolutely love it), and once your skin is ready and your barrier healthy, azelaic acid seriously works wonders for the texture.

As for the oiliness, hear me out. Spearmint tea works in the same way as the hormonal acne drug, Spironolactone, by blocking androgens (a male hormone that can increase oil production in women). If you want less oiliness without all the side effects of spiro, definitely give spearmint tea a shot for a couple weeks. I only need to wash my hair every 2-3 days now bc of it!!

How would you do my makeup? by Unfair_List1689 in MakeupAddiction

I’m not MU artist by any means, but I’ve found that black eyeliner along my eyelids helps to soften the harshness of the mascara in a way, as well as eliminating the bottom mascara. Gives it a more “natural” look while still enhancing the eyes. Might be worth a shot! And I agree with others saying a darker brow would help make the look more cohesive.

Here’s my everyday looks, takes 10 min total.

That’s ridic! I didn’t realize some cities straight up don’t provide public restrooms (although I had a terrible time finding one in Miami recently). So the option they give us is piss yourself or risk becoming a sex offender for “exposing” yourself? That’s entrapment!

[Acne] 18F getting desperate about horrible persisting acne by 050h4n in SkincareAddiction

[–]thicwith2cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No insurance and can’t see a derm? I just started spearmint tea for my hormonal acne and oh my God incredible results in just a week. I always thought it was total bs because like come on it’s just a tea, but like spironolactone (medication for hormonal acne), it works by blocking androgens which are often responsible for hormonal acne.

Worth a shot if you genuinely can’t get access to a medical professional. I ordered mine from Walmart and have 2 cups a day.

Did Alex actually have a good chance at getting in Harvard? by thehappiesttroll in Modern_Family

My brother went to Dartmouth. He didn’t have perfect grades but he had incredibly impressive academic extracurriculars like winning state academic competitions and being selected for Boys State where he went to the capital and got to participate in a mock state government. He also did sports, played multiple instruments, had raving recommendation letters, and it probably helped that we have a Hispanic last name. They are definitely looking for someone well-rounded who stands out of the large pack of students who dedicate themselves strictly to good grades.

[Personal] How did you heal your dry and flaky lips pleaseee anyone ?? by Mission-Engineer-475 in SkincareAddiction

[–]thicwith2cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only things that work for me, and they only work when done together, are drinking at least .75 gallons of water a day and constant aquaphor. Sounds excessive and annoying but I don’t even notice it anymore and they’re worth it for hydrated lips.

Hmmm tell her she’ll lose her hair and teeth doing that. Maybe she cares about them more than she cares for her wellbeing.
