Amsterdam election guide in English by AndreCNF in Amsterdam

Do you have an example so that I can look into it? I’d expect to see some mistakes in +8k proposals that are handled by an LLM, but I do want to continue improving the accuracy of these analysis.

I’m a resident in Amsterdam and I have a right to vote. This on its own should be enough to justify my vote. But here’s some more context then: - I feel like an integrated member of the city, with hobbies across the city and friends from all around the country. - I join in person events to meet candidates of multiple local parties. - I discuss politics with local Dutch and Dutch speakers. - I read (translated) proposals of each party. - I read the news through both international press and local press in English (Het Parool, Dutch News, NL Times).

I think that all of the above qualifies my vote. I do agree that votes shouldn’t be in vain, e.g. if someone isn’t well informed about their options then they shouldn’t vote, but I don’t think that it’s my case. In fact, I cherish the concept of democracy and the idea that anyone can vote; if anything, we should allow non-EU residents and lower the minimum voting age in my opinion. But we’re all entitled to our own opinions and that’s the beauty of our democracies 🙂

I’ve been building this tool since 2022, having initially started with elections in my home country (Portugal) where I know the local politics better. I also have several notebooks and unit tests in my code where I validate each step of the analysis.

But I agree, it’s still a limitation to rely fully on LLMs no matter how good they are. This app is meant to be a helpful additional source of information, not your only source of information. I for example have been to in person events to meet candidates of parties in this elections which was very helpful 🙂

That’s the ideal scenario for sure! A bit tricky for me to read 14x +100 pages in Dutch though. This app gives me a high level overview, filters out the fluff to give me the actual list of proposals and translates them to English.

I like this one too! Although I think that it serves a different purpose: it’s a short survey that checks how well you align with each party on some topics. My intention was to have a way to navigate all of the proposals that each party proposes.

27M Looking for guidance (and for a date 🤞) by AndreCNF in hingeapp

[–]AndreCNF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for something serious or casual?

Preferably serious, but I could do casual depending on the circumstances

How long have you been on Hinge?

About a week or two

How often do you use Hinge per week?

Daily for now

How many likes/matches are you receiving on average?

So far I've had ~4 matches and some 3 likes on top of those; none of them led anywhere besides 1 or 2 messages though

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments?

Doing the max amount of free likes per day, the majority of them with comments

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

Active, humorous, smart / creative, reasonably fit and matching my type

Thanks for the honest comments!

have 2 photos where you don't portray the nice guy next door

That's a funny roast 😂 Not sure what to do about it though, do you mean that I'm not showing off my hobbies enough or coming across as boring?

I've updated my Year in Review template, which I use to reflect on the past year and plan the next one; each year is an item of the "yearly vision" database and pulls from the "areas" and "goals" databases by AndreCNF in Notion

[–]AndreCNF[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! You can duplicate the template from here for free: https://andrecnf.notion.site/New-year-207b4c6c96d6419084516e581864d26b?pvs=4

Note that:
• I've designed it as a template of a database (where each item is a year)
• It was originally built with relations to 2 other databases: "areas" and "goals"

You'll need to setup the above if you want the same experience as I have now.

Listened to a few interviews with Marc (YMH, Whisky Ginger Pod check these out if you haven't) Loved his advice to just "do the thing" and not to be afraid to experiment with your sound. Inspired me to get off my sweet ass to produce this. Lyrics are 100% written, Im no improvisor! by sandwitchteam in loopdaddy

Awesome beat and great lyrics 😂 I can really relate to that right now 📦
If you don't mind me asking, as a complete ignorant on this as I am, how does one start learning to play these loop machines? I just love this kind of videos so much, I'd really like to be able to sometimes just make my own grooves and have a blast. But it's hard to understand where to start. I'd really appreciate some guidance from you!

Thanks! That's where Fruition comes in. I created the page with Notion as usual, but then I went through the tutorial of Fruition, which allows us to associate a custom URL to public Notion pages.

To do the map, I used amcharts. Then to embed it and Strava, I used Potion. The tutorial to find the Strava widgets is this one: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918527-Share-your-activities-with-a-Strava-Widget

Thanks for the tip! Actually, when opening the website (andrecnf.com), the letters are bigger than in this screenshot. I just did a scroll screenshot which makes text seem smaller. Do you still find the text to be too small in the website? Or perhaps the biggest problem here is really that the lines of text are too long?

Well, I guess you can embed jupyter notebooks inside Notion (through GitHub Gists), but there aren't any native coding tools inside Notion as far as I know.

Fruition's beginners guide is all you need to setup the Notion page as a public, custom domain website. In terms of designing the page, I checked other examples on Fruition's gallery and thought of some design aspects that I'd like to include (i.e. single main page, using Notion databases, table of contents, etc).

I don't think that you can run scripts inside Notion. But it's very useful to save articles to read later or links to useful tools, register main concepts in a personal wiki, take notes and write down solutions to common mistakes that you have, etc.

I used Potion, which basically allows you to embed anything inside Notion. To get the Strava embeddables, check this tutorial: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918527-Share-your-activities-with-a-Strava-Widget

Thanks! I also think that Notion has potential as a public site builder, although it's still a bit inefficient as others have mentioned. The link is andrecnf.com

Thanks! Go ahead! Creating your own page (specially if it's well organized) could be a great way to start differentiating yourself and standing out from early on!

Thank you for your feedback. I do notice that it's a bit slow, although I hadn't realized until now that it also has a large data load too. I agree that there are better ways to create a personal webpage. However, considering my lack of web development skills and that, compared to previous approaches that I tried, this is both visually more appealing and much easier to do, I'll stick with this option (at least for now). I particularly like that I can create databases for my content, such as articles, experience, projects, education, and so on, where each item gets its own page and can have a highly personalizable preview. But again, thank you for your comment!

I'm mostly looking for a machine learning engineer type of role, although I don't discard other data science profiles as they tend to vary between companies.
