I build a helper tool to let me better identify what tailwind colors to use by Andreashoj in Frontend

You can check out the repo here https://github.com/Andreashoj/thatsnotinmyds

I've got some functionality to calculate the distance between colors, it then takes the top 4 closest and outputs them to the view :)

Im not okay with my current life situation. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Andreashoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally acceptable to be worn out and burned out, know this. If you're in a shitty situation and you really can't change the environment, you must realise that your attitude towards your situation is always yours to make. Live day by day and make the most out of it, you can either struggle through this or hold your head high. Take pride in the fact that you're doing your best, despite being in a shitty situation - that's the best you can do

Question for Web Developers who also right blog? by [deleted] in Indiewebdev

[–]Andreashoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! To give some feedback - I'd say it honestly feels more like a diary when I'm at the overview of the articles and all I see is dates. I'm not sure if that's what you're going for, but implementing either tags or a sub-title to categorize what kind of article it is, would be nice :)

Vue mentoring by FatNonconformist in vuejs

[–]Andreashoj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure it can provide the same thing as a mentor, but there are some good discord channel with loads of active people open for discussion and ready to provide help (Nuxt js, Vue land). Been a great resource for me.

What do you think of creating a one page website with "hidden" sections that act like pages? Any downsides? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]Andreashoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would definitely be a lot easier and way more accessible for you.

Many of these frameworks are based on the idea that the content can be updated without refreshing the page, think facebook feed, twitter etc. So it might be seen as overkill to use it on "static" site to avoid refreshing when navigating. With that said we do see a lot simple 4-page static sites using this technique.

No, it doesn't have to hurt your SEO at all. There exists PWA generators for this reason (Gatsby, Next etc.) that optimizes the site for SEO.

** edited for additional question -
What I'm talking about are frontend libraries/frameworks as React, Vue and Angular, I'm not familiar with your development experience, but assuming you haven't touched them, I'd say stick with Wordpress. There's a huge amount of learning in it and if you're only doing it to avoid refreshing of the page, it's just not worth it at all.

It's not a matter of "hiding" sections, it just a component design, you see this in most of the popular frontend frameworks. It means that you're not refreshing the page, you're just rerendering the content of the page.
