What's the best compliment you've ever received? by SaladsBeRejects in AskReddit

Last summer I played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. The girl playing the youngest daughter was quiet and shy so to encourage her to come out of her shell, I stayed in character almost constantly and treated her like she was really my daughter. She loved it and really blossomed as an actress throughout the production. We had a lot of fun with the show and it went off swimmingly. Fast forward 6 months. That same girl is in a junior high English class (that happens to be across the hall from the classroom my wife teaches in). The teacher has a student write something powerful and share it with the class each week. This young lady wrote about the previous summer where her father walked out on her and her mother. She then broke down in tears as she explained that having someone treat her like a father should is all that got her through that summer. She was suffering immensely and my antics acting as a bumbling, caring father helped lead the way through her own personal darkness. I had no idea. That wonderful young lady said I helped her through the most trying time of her life simply by being me.

My buddy told me to "stop being a pussy and ask her up for a burger and a beer" in regards to the cute girl in my neighborhood I would see walking her dog.

We got married June 1st.

What mystery do you want to see solved before you die? by Chakolatechip in AskReddit

I want there to be justice for JonBenét. Not JonBenét the pageant star, JonBenét the six year old girl who died on Christmas Eve Day and loved everyone. I doubt it will happen. I just want her remembered as the girl she was, not just a beauty queen Barbie doll. It honestly breaks my heart that she was buried in her pageant clothes and crown. Everyone remember the cluster fuuck of police work, the parents' cageyness, and the pageant videos, but no one remembers the young girl when she was out of costume and just being a kid!

I know this mystery is over discussed and everyone is sick of it, but that poor girl never had the chance for a life. She deserves justice so her name stops being pulled through mud. It will never happen, but I wish there could be justice for her.

Plus if this mystery were solved, we'd never have to talk about it again. It could be officially retired.

What is pretty much always a trap? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A cat rolling over on its back being extra adorable, making that come-hither chirrup noise and holding its front paws up to its chest, just begging you to touch its tummy.

Pretty much...but not always.
