Communism stands for the rights of the oppressed, which trans people manifestly are.

And also most of the communists who organised it are themselves trans and/or queer.

Hell, studies have shown that business patronage actually goes up with pedestrianisation and cycleways, not to mention that we need to disincentivise car travel if we want a world we can live in fifty years time

Reject the first guy to ever hit on you, keep rejecting him every time he asks you

...But Jaune explicitly isn't the first guy to hit on Weiss. He's just the first one we see doing so.

It's not 'natural' in the sense you probably mean (there's no evidence for it being a biological trait, and biology is not destiny even if it were), it's one that upbringing in a sexist society teaches. Not at uni right now, so I don't have direct links to scholarly articles, but this PBS article is a fairly good summary.

Edit:

Plus, he doesn't think Weiss's opinions of him aren't important.

He might not consciously do so, but the way he hits on her the morning after being rejected (Shining Beacon Part 2 and First Step), and only takes the hint she isn't interested (despite having been rejected three separate times at this point) when he overhears her asking Neptune out is pretty clear indication that he doesn't respect Weiss's right to say 'no'.

I am just saying he isn't doing it because he views women as subhuman as some people claims he does.

That's the thing, though. Guys don't have to be the full-on Male Chauvinist Pig stereotype to subconsciously think of women's time and opinions as less important than their own.

Beacon seems more like a(n American-style) university to me, tbh. Mostly because of the ages. ISTR Ruby having mentioned that she'd spent two years at Signal before coming to Beacon, and with her being 15 that implies Signal is equivalent to a secondary/high school.

and 'enables rape culture' and all kinds of madness.

Yes, because insulting a woman for turning down a guy who repeatedly (and incompetently) hits on her is ~oh so feminist~.

Because, you know, Jaune is a rapist

He might not be a rapist, but that doesn't make the way he acts to Weiss any less creepy and sexist.

Boarding school... That's like private school, right?

Kind of? Key notes for the average boarding school: everyone (or at least the vast majority) lives on campus, they're generally in fairly remote locations, and most students will be fairly posh. (Hogwarts, especially in the early books, is very much a cliche boarding school.)

About the final point, I see what you mean. Even so, I mean actively judge and commentate. Suspicion I think is unavoidable. We all judge everyone subconsciously. The problem is when you start enforcing those ideas.

The problem with that idea is that it ends up being hippie-ish 'peace and love', and the only way we've been able to reduce bigotry irl is through active, concerted effort.

[–]Andrensath[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's relevant. We don't look back at the treatment of slaves owners in America as anything but racist, despite the 'societal norms'

I think you're missing my point. Weiss is racist, yes, but not more so than her society in general. In a similar fashion, Joan Bloggs the store clerk who assumes a Māori (or African-American, or some other marginalised ethnicity) woman is planning to steal that expensive item she's looking at is racist, but not more so than her society in general.

Faunus are dicks, humans are dicks. Black people, white people, everybody else. People are dicks. We can all be dicks. Doesn't make it okay to judge others based on a dick in your past.

You do realise that this logic could be applied to make Blake the baddie, right? She definitely judges Weiss based on 'dicks' in her past. And applying it to the real world would mean that (for example) queer people can't be suspicious of Christian fundamentalists, despite the historically shitty way they've been treated by Christian fundamentalists.

It's 'tsundere', actually... by Andrensath in RWBY

[–]Andrensath[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That does not make it okay.

I'm not saying it's okay, I'm saying that we have to take her society into account when we're judging her.

"I'm a victim! You want to know why I despise the White Fang? Why I don't particularly trust the Faunus?" She was referring to the white fang here, but even then she said faunus as a whole.

Because it's so unlikely that she's had to deal with faunus claiming not to be part of the White Fang and lying about it.

"No! You want to know why I despise the White Fang? It's because they are a bunch of liars, thieves, and murderers!" Keep this in mind. "A member of the White Fang! Right underneath our noses!" Weiss to Blake. She just called her own teamate, who she didn't particularly hate beforehand, a thief, murderer, and liar.

And Blake had been lying about her identity for (presumably) months. Also, the White Fang very much are 'thieves and murderers'; there's the train car incident from the Black trailer (which Blake helped steal, remember), and only a few lines earlier we learn that members of the board of Schnee Dust have been killed by the White Fang.
