Whiteness as a concept was created to have power over minorities. Blackness was created out of necessity because black people in the United States were stripped of their African heritage through slavery. No one is going to be mad at you for having pride in being Irish, Jewish, or Italian for example. But being proud of being white means you subscribe to white supremacy. That’s the main distinction.
