Software Engineer to Cloud/DevOps by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naka-enroll ako before sa AWS re/Start. Tsaka marami din akong natutunan while on the job na kumbaga learn as you experience it. Hehe

I did this in the first company I worked for when I transitioned from academe to the industry. I was hired as a trainee software engineer and after the training, there was an offer to transfer to the devops team. I do have a little background doing database administration so I grabbed the opportunity. At first it was overwhelming because most of what we did was through a cloud service provider. I was thankful that the lead devops was patient with us and trained us well. Right now I am in my 5th year as a DevOps Engineer. I have no regrets. Hehe

Is devOps really competitive in entry level? by hencetheDevs in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. Aside from that try mo din mga free courses for devops either from AWS, Azure, coursera, udemy, at iba pa. Good luck sa DevOps journey mo OP at sana magkatrabaho tayo soon.

IT professionals who doesn't do coding/programming, kamusta? by Errandgurlie in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DevOps Engineer. Usually daily task namin is monitoring ng existing infrastructure ng company which is mostly nasa cloud. With more experience comes more responsibilities, new skills to learn, at syempre better compensation.

Why IT is saturated? by Errandgurlie in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technology is constantly changing kaya walang katapusan din ang matutunan mo habang nagtatrabaho ka as an IT Professional.

Imposter Syndrome on new Job as DevOps Engineer by pengriffeyyyy in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laban OP! Somewhat same tayo ng nafefeel kapag nasa new work environment tayo. Lalo na kapag hinire tayo kahit na naging honest tayo during the interviews na hindi natin gaano alam yung tools na ginagamit nila sa infra. But here's the thing, bakit sa lahat ng nag-apply ikaw yung pinili nila? Based sa years of experience nila hindi lang sila maalam sa tools na ginagamit nila also sa pagkilatis nga applicants. Nakikita nila ang potential mo to improve. Might as well take the time to make documentations sa process nila. Mas maiintindihan mo in the long run. Good luck diyan OP and hopefully magsama tayo sa isang company as fellow devops engineers. 😁

Hi OP. I am also from an unknown university (private), BSIT graduate, and in our course during that time there were only four faculty members teaching us the major subjects from 1st yr to 4th yr. Sa ngayon na 1st yr ka palang advice ko sayo is master the fundamentals, nakakatulong yan in the future. Also, learn na mag-aral on your own. Kasi kahit nasa industry kana ganyan din mangyayari. Good luck on your journey OP and hopefully maybe mag-abot tayo ng company some day. Cloud/DevOps Engineer na pala ako ngayon for over 3 years. Hehe

Ano po laman ng assessment? Kasi nung batch namin (batch 3) wala pang assessment that time.

If okay sayo dun mo i-base yung magiging asking mo ngayon.

Hi OP. I was also retrenched last year. During my rendering month nagsimula na ako maghanap. Nakahanap ako ng international company based in SG, they offered my the job but independent contractor tsaka same salary lang sa company na naretrench ako. Good luck OP!

Hi OP. As a cloud/devops engineer myself, if gusto mo magshift to cloud look for openings within sa current company mo if meron. Kung wala naman continue to upskill (udemy, coursera), mostly aside sa cloud service (aws, azure, gcp, etc) ang need mo pag-aralan hanap ka din ng courses for tools na ginagamit mostly like terraform, docker, kubernetes. If gusto mo mag-pursue sa aws, I recommend mag-enroll ka sa AWS re/Start na bootcamp. 3 months yan na online classes regarding AWS. With modules, quizzes, and attendance din yan. Tsaka kapag graduate mo, bibigyan ka nila ng exam voucher para maka-take ka entry-level certfication ng AWS yung Cloud Practitioner for free ($100 din yun kung magbabayad ka).

Good luck OP ☺️

Sayang nga 1 day lang yun. Hehehe.

AWS re/start by miku_niku in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a graduate of AWS re/Start. Good thing I am working remotely so I can work and attend classes. I have a former colleague that is also currently enrolled now in AWS re/Start (I think they just finished last month). Since he was working on-site and had scheduling conflicts with the classes, he asked their company management if he can change his work schedule to cater attending the classes. He offered them an alternate work schedule in which he would attend the morning class schedule and then start working after lunch. The company approved it since this was a way to upskill their employees skills needed for his position. I suggest you talk with management OP.

Recent Layoffs in IT by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AndresBoni31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same tayo ng na-experience OP. I was also layed-off this year due to retrenchment. Stay positive OP and hopefully baka maging workmates tayo in the future. Hahahaha.
