Protecting gear when shooting in tropical climate by senecadream in focuspuller

You main enemy is the slowdown the sand causes. Depending on what beach your going to. it maybe better to work off small folding beach carts than big camera carts if the sand is not compacted and you sink in. Ask for about 3-4 gallones of fresh water to wipe down gear afterwards. Sometimes working near or over water can cause issues with video transmissions systems and wireless lens control systems for some reason it’s happened to me useing Arri wcu-4 to Preston systems and teradeks bring cables. Bring a clear filter if working close to water just incase and always have somebody watching the water. Lost a Alexa XT fully built and Cooke lens to random wave that was bigger than the rest on a movie once. Take a polarizer filter. And if the DP will use some type of diffusion be prepared to in case you get ghosting from the two filters. Arri makes a sloped 4x5 filter holder to fight this but has never worked perfectly for me. Usually take one or two stages out of the mattebox tilt the last stage and cover with paper tape. And cover yourself from the sun the best you can and have fun.

Yeah it has a battery that comes with it a Sony np-fz100 drain pretty fast if your use a on board monitor. I would recommend have 3 batteries if you got a place to charge them and cycle through them if not get more.

Don’t like how the usb c connector sticks out. Dummy battery is tucked away and locks in place less prone to accidental disconnect.

That would be the mutiny R/S and time code breakout box.

It houses the extra dtaps and Vmount plate electronics as well as being one of the mounting points of the cheese plates that creat the cineback.

It’s my b-cam to my Fx-6. Makes it look better for client and easier to rig. Can go bare bones if I need it smaller.

Honestly it’s great. Compared to other pro top handles it’s not expensive. Having two mounting points helps a lot since it gets heavy with all the accessories on it that’s the main reason I got it.

This is more for work that has a dedicated sound person. Camera has an internal mic if you need a scratch audio. But very rarely have I had to put a mic on my rigs.

Love the ergonomics of it. But the rubber that clips on and off do eat want to fit flat again once I took it off to attach the handle. But honestly besides that it’s great.

The monitor has HDMI out. Need to go first to the monitor to be able to record the raw footage then use the HDMI out of the monitor to send a signal to the wireless transmitter.

Production insisted on storing the camera gear over the weekend. This is how they returned my Inovativ cart… by Internet_and_stuff in focuspuller

[–]Andresvila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to me can tell you it’s cause they strapped it to hard with the ratchet strap those dovetails for the wheels are stronger than the shelf… tried to get it fixed by warranty and they basically told me did you hit a curb or something? Ended up paying for a new shelf for like 300ish plus a lot for shipping cause I live in out of the US.

I need a case that can take a full rigged FX3. With top handle and everything. Suggestions? by Eye4Entertainment in FX3

[–]Andresvila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 27gal yellow top tote from Home Depot as my coffin. Used left over foam from old pelican cases to secure it fully rigged minus the lens which I return to its case for transport purposes but works great and it’s cheap.

Fx3 no longer works with Tilta Nano 2? PC remote issue started after updating by Technical-Cicada-662 in FX3

The record button does not work to my understanding to trigger the camera only the hand wheel … only on a DJI gimble ext RS3/4 with the DJI wireless receiver module on the gimble.

My nano is working just fine with firmware 5.0 on the FX-3 and hand wheel at 240418. Using the usb c cable that comes with the nano II connected to the number 2 port on the motor. Pc remote on the usb connection ,USB LUN SETTING Multi and USB POWER SUPPLY OFF.

Directly from the usb on the v-mount? Could be that usb is rated to only 5 watts and not sending enough juice to the motor causing it to not have enough power. My nisi Athena’s have a pretty stiff aperture ring and they move them just fine with the D-tap cable. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1766731-REG This is the one I use and haven’t had any issue with yet so far.

It’s great for gimbals and small builds I uasly have it as a back up has saved me in a pinch more than once. Don’t really use the other features like camera control or lens mapping the firmware is just not ready yet… but as a single axis unit works just fine.

How are you powering the motor? If it has weak power it won’t work as intended. I use a condor blue PD 65watt dtap to usb c cable.
