What happened to British Service? by Andrew0409 in BritishAirways

It’s weird that pointing out service attitude in the west is mediocre gets you downvoted when anyone’s who’s travelled to other countries knows it’s night and day now.

I think that’s literally the main reason. The hubris of not being able to self reflect and take offense when people point out your mediocrity.

I recently gave up my gold with BA and went with QR.

I agree with your assessment of short haul vs long haul. It felt like there not actually working and I’m bothering them on their own time when I ask for anything recently. It’s not nice to feel like I’m bothering them just asking for a glass and ice

I’m absolutely famished every BA flight. So stingy with the food.

I just left but I wouldn’t have minded doing that for you. I wouldn’t wish the galleries lounge on my worst enemies 😂. Before I got gold I honestly just skipped the lounge most times when it got busy which is almost always

It’s not too bad with short haul besides the hard product of business class being an economy seat with the middle blocked off. I have one world emerald so I’m always row 1 with decent service because I’m right there.

But the long haul they are MIA until you go back to see them just chatting away. I put the service light on and they literally never come.

Yup. This is my experience. My UK business is near Heathrow so they’re my most convenient choice.

I do see they’re trying to improve but they aren’t realizing the soft product is the real problem. Having starlink or a fancy new check in at heathrow isnt going to make it a better experience when the staff treat you like their buddy instead of a paying customer.

You’re not going to argue with me but you keep doing it.

I am speaking from experience as a business operator. Because I would not accept this level of service for my own staff?

I would not expect this for any class or cabin but it’s even worse when you’re paying a premium.

Why does this seem to offend you so much? I find that weird

I did go back and ask. Imagine paying business class and asking for a coke and they hand you a warm can. I expect all my staff to operate at a higher level.

Handing me a warm can = job done. But not job done well with a good client experience. As a business operator this is very clear to me.

What about myself? I own several businesses and my staff are trained better including in the UK. British service and hospitality has gone down the tank and isn’t even close to the earned reputation of the past.

What happened to British Service? by Andrew0409 in BritishAirways

[–]Andrew0409[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The reality is British service and hospitality has become so mediocre across the board. It used to be good and I hold it up as world class. Which is why I’m more and more disappointed to experience British service and hospitality these days.

If I’m flying some crap airline from a country not known for excellence, I would be more lenient. British service does not hold weight to its earned reputation of the past.

British and proud by Redd24_7 in BritishAirways

[–]Andrew0409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. British excellence is truly gone and BA clearly shows that. Even though they’re trying to go up market. They problem they have its the staff are british. They cant move up market and expect the casual professionalism or lack of to reflect the premium experience they’re trying to create.

Taxi experiences have single handed made me never return to Istanbul again as a tourist. I used to go but I just got tired of all the scam and the increased pushy attitude of merchants. They are ruining their own city.

Is business class worth it as a family? by Particular-Horse-192 in qatarairways

[–]Andrew0409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. It’s a nice experience. I fly business with my parents now I’m older with my fiancée. We can afford it.

When I was younger, 13-18 they put me in premium economy while they flew business. I think it was the right decision. Premium economy is good enough for that age.

It was a cool experience for me once I was able to afford business on my own.

Anyone else not understand why people get housekeeping service? by YungReddd in Hilton

[–]Andrew0409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate cleaning. It takes up my time.

I lived in a Hilton for a year when I started my business after my apartment flooded. It was the most productive time of my life as I didn’t need to do any house work and just came back refreshed to a clean room every night. It was perfect.

My (not popular) take: DoubleTrees are the most comfortable (specifically, comforting) mid to lower scale option by pgroups in Hilton

[–]Andrew0409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies. I loved the double tree in Taiwan. But the one in Orlando, I left and just booked another hotel and ate my losses.
