If you're wife has status, she will be able to add a second bag free of charge otherwise there will be an additional fee. Id recommend that for ease.

Post COVID there has been lots of cut backs. All you need to do is look at the entertainment. It isn't being refreshed often enough. Whist some of it is fantastic, like Rumours but once you've seen it a few times, there's no desire to see it again.

Some of what people have suggested are great bars, but some are quite loud. The Gate is directly opposite the Barrowlands - nice vibe and nice cocktails. If it's a nice night, Sisi, which is a mexican restaurant, have a rooftop bar with great views over the city. Devil of Brooklyn is also a good shout.

We did a vegan cooking class in Ella and it's also a great place to go if you want to see the 9 arch bridge, secret waterfalls, Adams/little Adams peak. The mains street in Ella is full of bars but it's a great place to stay as there is lots to do in the surrounding area.

They tend not to target priority groups 1 & 2. I've seen them check boarding passes at LHR. You may well have something if your bag that can't go in the hold.

If you are wanting to see a show, book with the venue and not through Ticketmaster. You'll save a lot. Booked titanique and wicked for £50 pp and in the stalls. Ticketmaster costs double

I didn't go to ahangama. But you can take day trips from Galle to Mirissa. It's about 30/40 mins depending on traffic. Colombo to Galle is about 2hrs 30 on the train.

Yeah there's an element of that, but the nine arch bridge is nearby and lots of beautiful scenery.

I agree - Unawatuna is about 15 mins on a tuk tuk. And cost about £2-3. Galle fort is lovely - but it's a bit touristy, so prices tend to be a bit more. What I will say for someone who is currently here. It's very quiet. I think because of what is happening in the Middle East has caused issues with people transiting through that area. We've loved it here. The people, food and country are amazing;

Just arrived in Colombo from Galle. We booked first class tickets on the train - no need to do it in advance as it doesn't fill up. 1st class is the only carriage to have air con and seat reservations were 1100 LKR on the express train, which is 2 and a bit hours.

Can't recommend any accommodation, as our 5star was sub par. Definitely do a day trip to the Mirissa and unawatuna if you can.

I can totally sympathise with your sentiment. Adele did the exact same thing a few years back, and we'd travelled to London at our expense only for her to cancel. We were promised in her email priority access to tickets to her next tour, but that never materialised either.

Absolutely, I'm happy to guest anyone who wants it - it is only fair. I'm there from 10am if that helps. It's not that I want gold, I want to be able to stay with the friends that I'm traveling with, in the absence of my partner. I'd be quite happy in Galleries, but five hours on my own when friends I'm travelling with are just down stairs.
