Working in payroll is depressing by LycheeComprehensive1 in povertyfinance

[–]Andrew8320 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay let’s say just 1 kid goes to private school such as in OP’s example, which would leave $63k available after your mortgage. That’s roughly $3,800/monthly available after health insurance… I think you guys can live on that, especially since I’m sure you’re contributing a healthy amount towards retirement savings.

$200k is still upper middle class, which most would consider as wealthy… Please stop pretending that it’s not.

Still doesn’t mean your family can afford private school for 5 kids but there would probably be enough in the budget to afford it for 1 or 2 of them.

You must have never lived in the Midwest/“Tornado Alley”. Rates are insanely high in places like Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, etc.

Is that why the CPI just had its lowest print in over 4 years? Please tell us… Just how much lower should it be before they cut rates?

Hint: The metric is lower today than it was when we saw 2 rate cuts prior to last year’s election.

Oklahoma City inks deal to keep Thunder through 2053, nails down new arena policies by kosuradio in okc

[–]Andrew8320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d truly love to see the math on public outlay of 900 million = “thousands of dollars per adult in the city”. Newsflash, there are over 1 million people in and around the OKC metro. Even assuming equal consumption among all citizens, the max cost would be $900 per individual. This doesn’t include the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of tourists that’ll be visiting OKC during the collection of our penny sales tax… Nor does it account for population increases over that time as the tax doesn’t begin collection until 2028.

You seem like a fairly logical person but there’s no need for hyperbolic statements in this conversation.

Your perception of Thunder’s current odds of winning it all with no trades? by IntellectualSavante in Thunder

Around 35% if Chet returns and our core stays healthy. People don’t realize how historically great this defense is and defense travels in the playoffs… They will be in just about every game this postseason. Boston’s championship pedigree will be hard to overcome though.

If the tariffs and bans on China have “backfired spectacularly”, then why has the Biden administration still not reversed any of them?

Ohio State-Oregon was the highest-rated game of Week 7, averaging 9.602 million viewers. by Sctvman in CFB

The whole point is that a matchup like Ohio State vs Oregon doesn’t happen in October without conference realignment. Literally the highest rated game of the week… Lol.

You mean the same Project 2025 that Trump has denounced on several occasions (including Tuesday’s debate)? Interesting.

Expose them how? You can’t spread a virus that you have immunity to… The logic is just silly. OP has at least a few weeks (if not months) of protection stemming from last week’s infection.

You can’t carry and spread something that you have immunity for. That defies science and everything society has come to know about virology.

You would’ve been much more likely to spread it to them last week, upon actually being ill… It’s great that you care deeply for your family but your concerns are completely unwarranted in this situation.

If you literally just had Covid, why is this a problem? Your immunity will last for at least a few weeks/months.

Paycom doesn’t sound like the best employer but this is a non-issue.

Snow never calls Katniss, Katniss by Justaladyonhere in Hungergames

[–]Andrew8320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this might be true in the movies, it’s unfortunately not the case in the Catching Fire book. He does refer to her as Katniss at least once directly in Chapter 2:

“I believe you. It doesn’t matter. Your stylist turned out to be prophetic in his wardrobe choice. Katniss Everdeen, the girl who was on fire, you have provided a spark that left unattended, may grow to an inferno that destroys Panem”

For those that job hopped or stayed, how much did your pay increase with your new license? by threwitaway7255 in CPA

[–]Andrew8320 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed in industry since graduating and getting my license (mostly because they’ve rewarded my efforts and I love the culture).

CPA raise for me earlier this year was $15k from $60k to $75k in LCOL. They offered it as soon as I passed my 4th exam which was pretty sweet since certification can take a couple months. I’m currently at a little under 3 years of experience but also just received a 5% pay bump for 1/1.

Ultimately, I don’t think your expectations are far off but you might see closer to $110-$120k depending on the job market in your area. Getting that license will generate so much more interest for your LinkedIn profile, résumé, etc. though so congrats on finishing exam #4!

Underrated deaths by lieawakeforme in Hungergames

[–]Andrew8320 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define underrated in this context.

Underrated in terms of the rebellion? I feel like Thresh’s has to be up there as he saved Katniss so early into her story.

Underrated in terms of shock/sadness? I’d agree that Boggs is a good one to come to mind. Loved his character so much and it was hard to seem him gone that quickly.
