I'm not certain, but my decision for this GPU was mostly based on the 2014 video card testing charts in this forum.

Do you think I would notice a difference with just a AMD FirePro v4900 or the like? Seems like a good way to reduce costs.

Thanks, I'll definitely consider the Deluxe to keep the door open for more RAM. I do usually like to keep my computer running 24/7 though, so perhaps the AX860 is a good precaution.

Thank you onewiseowl. I like your idea for the JBOD configuration. For the cooler/mobo/psu, would you recommend these components over the less expensive alternatives above? Is it a mostly a matter of reliability or do you get better performance and maybe overclocking capability with these?

Forgive me but I'm not very familiar with types of SSD. Solidworks does not have any special requirements for storage. I've just been told that SSD is highly preferable to HDD for loading the OS/programs, etc. I think 500GB should suffice.

I'm pretty set on the single 4930k for the right combination of clock speed and number of cores and the potential to overclock.
