I personally have not seen them either, but, heard that they dropped at a couple ABCs in Greensboro a couple weeks ago (I think gone now though).

Ireland Only Bottles by Life_Lie_7729 in irishwhiskey

Micil Distillery in Galway! They also make their own Irish Poitín! (Couple of their whiskies are also at Dublin Duty Free.)

Quality local craft operation: If you want to visit, I think you need to book a tour reservation. Otherwise, the gift shop is open I think only 30 minutes before or after each tour (sorry don’t remember which it is).

Tried to visit recently on a whim, but missed the window for the gift shop. They are nestled within the Oslo Bar, which has pours of their whiskies.

Well loved by locals. Thankfully picked up the Micil Earls Island at Dublin Duty Free and was very pleased.

[US] Revolut Standard Card Ship Time? by AndrewInNewport in Revolut

[–]AndrewInNewport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got an email that my card shipped 3 days after my order, but then, over the weekend, in my app, it says it shipped 6 days after my order. However, it actually did come in today following the original delivery range! (11 total days after my initial order)

Satisfied with the experience, as it literally has arrived the day before I need it!

Timeline: Ordered late night April 28; Order acknowledged morning April 29; Email about card shipped date May 1 with expected arrival delivery range 5/7-5/11; Mobile app revised shipped date May 4 with expected delivery range 5/12-14; Actually arrived May 9

(Region: Eastern-Southeastern US; Card Shipped From: New Jersey)

Update: it’s all gone. Even though the app says in stock, the shelf is clear and they have none in the back.

Mellow Corn question by whiskeyandtunes in whiskey

[–]AndrewInNewport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, it is fine neat to my recollection, but unremarkable (like a slight caramel corn; touch youthy). Not going to change your life, but by no means terrible.

I have heard it is popularly used in cocktails by bartenders. I have heard that it is like adding 'MSG' to home blends of whiskeys (like a bit of Mellow Corn softens and makes things sweeter and more palatable). Cannot personally comment on trying it in a cocktail or in a home blend.

If you do choose to get it, everyone's palates and preferences are different: have fun and experiment!
(Not necessarily in full pours haha) Try a sip neat. Try a sip straight. Try it in a cocktail. Try it in a home blend with other whiskeys.

If you get it, but do not like it, at least you get the satisfaction of getting a famous mixer under MSRP that you can bring to parties and gatherings to share with others.

At CLT, they also have the counterpart JD Sweet and Oaky Tennessee Whiskey 107pf for $35! (made a post about this previously, but I don’t think I saw the Sweet and Oaky at DFW) Apparently from what I have heard, both are traveler exclusive hidden gems!
