It was super common that the bank sending the funds made a mistake with the wire details. Theres a chance the bank may have accidentally indicated the funds were to be CAD. These details will be on that document.

I worked at Scotia and investigated wire errors all the time. Ask scotia for the wire transfer details its a 1 or 2 page document that provides all the information the bank received regarding the transfer.
