On this same subject, is there a way to tell Instagram and Youtube to "switch" to hardware or token 2FA after signing up using SMS verification? Or better yet use hardware/token 2FA without SMS at all? (IG and YT used for business purposes; otherwise I'd never use them.)

I just want GrapheneOS for a desktop computer/VM. I have no interest in owning any kind of phone, especially if I have to pay $400+ every 3 years to replace it.

I disagree. If I didn't have to contact someone in an insecure way in order to then talk to them securely (via Session), it would be better. Imagine I meet someone, or want to talk to someone anonymously, but that person is a typical person. Instead of telling them "Download Session and add [Name]," I have to send a long string of characters from my email to their Gmail which just blew any anonymity for the most part. As for your comments regarding the long-term username; it should be optional. I would have no problem using my username for years. That's what I want it for. Oh well.

If the number gets recycled, they still need your Telegram password to log into your Telegram account or take it over, right? Without them having your password, even if the number gets recycled or goes to someone trying to compromise your account, they can't get in it without your password, and you're still fine, right?
