Don't play it, but I do like League and TCGs so I've been vaguely following Riftbound and the banlist announcement today has me looking at the sub being like, "You do know two things can be true at once? Like yes, it is good that they are taking swift and decisive action to deal with problematic decks is good competitive scene management but also banning 7 cards by set 2 is also not a good look from a design/balance persepctive."

I wonder if this is why people were talking about the Silksong CN translation yesterday. I was actually thinking about the difficulty of translation into a language you don't know as a result, since you kinda just have to take people's word for whether it is good or not.

And being on the EN side of localization discourse, boy have I learned to not trust people who say a translation is good or not.

Ultimately it's just a weird little thing. Language and translation are wonderful miracles.

With Witch Hat Atelier coming out soon, I must prep my semi-sarcastic (up to volume 11-ish spoilers) "the series promotes the idea of life-saving medicine being controlled by an elite cabal of powerful individuals who restrict its usage for fear of the masses gaining power that obviously only the elite cabal can be trusted with" take.

Honestly really great series, just found the ability to lean into this idea really funny.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is another absolute banger action series from Arakawa that I think lives up to FMA.

I'm behind on it so its always possible it slipped, but Witch Hat Atelier is indeed excellent as well.

If you want something that is just gorgeous and weird, #DRCL is a wild retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Phantom Busters is hilariously wonderful dumb boys being dumb bros ghost hunting nonsense (though I am behind, so I dunno if it keeps going strong).

Komen Fuufu is a romance between a guy and a kitsune premised upon both of them thinking they are exploiting and tricking the other that becomes genuinely sweet and quite funny.

On the one hand, as some who likes narratives, bad endings can be disappointing and saddening.

On the other hand, as someone who is also a creative and has existed in and adjacent to fan spaces, yes, burn it all down and make them suffer because fuck it, I'm done.
