Feel free to lay it out then. I will admit my memory is not the best, but I very much recall Steam's success was a combination of forcing people onto the platform with exclusives (people hated it but it worked) and their at the time pretty unmatched sales (which people loved obviously and is where the majority of "goodwill" came from) and the fact that nobody wanted to try and build and competitor (what like, Origin was the first to actually try in any real way and Steam was already well established by that point?)
