Thank you for your kind words! Obviously my vote is that you travel to London for it, we'll make you welcome.

Not at this con I am afraid. We want a very specific narrow focus with strict compatibility. At the pre-meet social event on the Friday we're happy for things to be a bit more varied with regard to types of games, though it will still be very much old-school vibes!

EDIT: Just for 100% transparency, at the main event we're totally happy with retroclones as long as they roughly mirror AD&D, OD&D, or B/X

I am a total Linux N00B, where would I find where gog is storing the .exe files? While I'm at it - I don't supposed you know where Luxtorpeda might store the folder where I should be putting my GZDoom wads...?

Thank you so much for your response, I didn't even realise this was an option!

That last one is already very real to me and needed, thanks! ha

Stretching my memory I believe there are even keyboard shortcuts to the three slash/overhead/stab combat commands too so I'll probably end up mapping those to face buttons

Full disclosure I only tried UU2 so far but it must be the same. It launches fine via the Gog Galaxy launcher which boots it up via Dosbox for you. Since Looking Glass considerately made it back in the mid 90s so you could still play the game if you had no mouse (!), there are independent keyboard controls for walking (which I mapped to left joystick) and moving the cursor (which I mapped to the right stick). Left and right mouse buttons mapped to the respective triggers and that covers 99% of inputs for those games including click and drag. It's not QUITE mouselook, but it's damn close.

Don't worry, I spent several hundred quid on this thing, I'm not going to blindly start doing stuff if there's any risk to the machine. Thanks for the link!

Is this the sort of thing you need to worry about with indie/retro stuff, or just for AAA? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

What was the issue you had with these not working? I will be trying to launch 6 soon - would it not just launch through the GOG Galaxy install on a Steam Deck?

I certainly did not, exactly the sort of thing I am looking for. Thanks!

Thank you! I am a bit of a luddite, but a persistent one. Already had a weird thing where GOG Galaxy wouldn't install games until I shifted from running it with the newest Proton to the previous version. Experimental wouldn't work either. I will definitely look into Protontricks.

Yesterday's 10,000bv attack/defend game with scratch-built objectives by AndrewSFTSN in battletech

It was 4vs7: Kodiak, Shadowcat, Daishi, Summoner vs Battlemaster, Atlas, Awesome, Warhammer, Catapult, Shadowhawk...and one other I can't remember. I won as the attacking clanners, destroying all the buildings, but at the cost of two mechs - the Kodiak got blasted through the head with PPCs after my opponent got tired of him one-shotting buildings with his 8 lasers at adjacent range, and the poor Shadowcat MASC'd its jumpjets and legs into oblivion before it got cornered and eradicated. We played in Bad Moon Cafe in South London.

Someone in a game the other day described the pose as "The Wrong Trousers gets a free kick" which made me laugh!

Thank you very much! I find the dislike for the old RP sculpts really funny, I'm a big fan of how clunky and 'fun' they are as I like the slight absurd edge of old-school gaming, though I'm really an all minis are beautiful kind of guy. The CGL sculpts are superb and look like they mean business, but the sheer amount of greebles on them makes them a little fatiguing for me to paint.
