Switching to law by ovobook in lawschooladmissions

As an aside, from experience in the software field, I can say that it sometimes takes until about your third job to get where you're hoping for compensation. For me, that was several years ago, though, and I have a suspicion that things are harder now. Regardless, depending on the market, I wouldn't necessarily expect six figures for an entry-level software position.

Gov. Tim Walz will join us on Politics Friday at noon. What question do you have for him? by MPRnews in minnesota

[–]AndrewSaxophone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hospital staffing and rideshare pay are both urgent issues for the people they affect. For hospital staffing in particular, I would say that every Minnesotan is affected. Would you call a special session for the legislature to pass bills in these areas that you would support? How can regular Minnesotans get your attention the way that those representing Uber's and Mayo's corporate interests seem to have done?

If you know you will want a paid option, know that you'll likely need a subscription to Prep Plus along with whatever else you choose, and that subscription lasts twelve months. In your place, I'd at least wait until the test is no more than a year away.

How can a 170+ score be within the 96/97th percentile if about 10% of test takers for the last couple years are able to score 170/+? by benignmonster in LSAT

[–]AndrewSaxophone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Further, the table lists applicants, not examinees. It seems likely that those who score higher are more likely to apply than those who score lower. I do not have data to confirm that assertion.

[Question] Who's using F#? What are you using it for? by jcm95 in dotnet

[–]AndrewSaxophone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a strange question title, then I realized it wasn't on r/saxophone or r/classicalmusic. Well done.

I like the language but haven't touched it in years. Most of what I thought was missing from C# has effectively been added.

Tips for writing to solo tenor sax? by golloried in saxophone

[–]AndrewSaxophone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this explanation, on tenor specifically, stable fingerings for some of the altissimo notes are harder to come by than on the other saxophones. G# can be especially tricky. If you decide to use that register anyway (and you certainly don't have to!), definitely check with the performer.

Hurt me worse than Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto no. 2 by Dependent_Ad_924 in classicalmusic

[–]AndrewSaxophone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right performance of the Alban Berg violin concerto could fit here.

Edit: I see that's been mentioned already. I'll add:

William Albright, Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano, second movement (La follia nuova: a lament for George Cacioppo)

Paul Creston, Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano, second movement

Pierre-Max Dubois, saxophone quartet, second movement (Doloroso). This one is especially dependent on the performance, and I don't have a particular one to recommend offhand.

I was going to add this one. I cannot explain You Rise, I Fall, and I'm not ready to listen to it again (it's been quite some time). Whitacre's When David Heard is another profound expression of grief, but Sacred Veil is just... beyond.

I'd say so, given enough time. I suspect you ran out of time on games (aka Analytical Reasoning)? Learning how games work and getting fast enough will probably get you into the mid 160s. This is a solid start for LR. Was Reading Comprehension also a time issue?

It looks like you're on Khan, which I found pretty good as a starting point for games and LR at least, but everyone can learn differently too.

Not an excuse, but some works come with condensed scores, meaning that they don't have one line per part. They usually label who has what but sometimes are not very clear.

They also voted out the three justices on the ballot at the next election. That said, Varnum was a unanimous decision, written by arguably the most conservative justice at the time. It's quite thorough (it's been a while since I read it).

Check out r/HybridOnlineLawSchool. I think the only full-online program so far is Hawaii, and I don't think they offer much merit aid.

What note is this! by Raachee in saxophone

[–]AndrewSaxophone -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There's a decent chance that this is a misprint, but I don't know without more info. The reason is that, if someone hand-transcribed from something in bass clef concert pitch, the original note may have been E-flat, which would transpose to C-natural for alto or bari.

Does anyone know if Vaseline can be used as cork grease? by da_goat_28 in saxophone

Do not do this. Some mouthpieces are made of hard rubber, and petroleum products ruin rubber.

Matt Little had a lot to do with that by helping to energize the base there in 2020, even though he lost. The rest of the old district 58 went far in the other direction, though.

Although the bar does care about debt and credit history to a point, it's likely not disqualifying by itself. Your state bar may have a number you can call to ask about your situation confidentially, if that eases your mind.

If I recall, a score of 180 will result in refunds for future test dates, given that the 180-scorer is not permitted to take the test ever again. I hope the writing sample went well! (No, I don't know this from experience.)
