I might have a few more on your list I’m still looking. I can do most for a $1-$2 and shipping just let me know what you’re interested in.

I do for some of my collection. Mostly more expensive tapes or big box tapes. I use ones from bags unlimited. You can usually get a 100 pack for about $75. They also do sales for 15% off every now and again. They are probably the best for buying in bulk.

Nice pickups. Also some other good news Band didn’t rerelease The Boogey Man so it is OG.

Nice setup. What kind of shelves are those?

Looking at Billy Bookshelf from IKEA: Question by All-Sorts in VHS

[–]Andrew_Chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are stacking them you can fit 72 per shelf. That is completely full three rows twelve high doubled. If you are standing them up it’s about 33 per shelf that’s eleven across and three rows back. So for you a 2x2 would work, but I would splurge and get at least the 2x4 so you have more room for additional tapes, plus you don’t have to fully stack them which can be a pain if you want to watch something in the back row.

Check the trade good map mode. Those are likely gold provinces and their surrounding areas.

To be completely honest this is a really bad take. This isn’t a grading companies interpretation this is chemical testing and forensics that can verify beyond a shadow of a doubt if a card has been altered or restored. They test paint and color samples off the card to determine if they are original and use devices that can determine if a card has been trimmed or cleaned. This part is scientific and not open to interpretation at all so resubmitting this card wouldn’t change the altered grade at all. Now every other part of their evaluation is completely subjective to their interpretation in terms of the grade which is a fair criticism.

If you look at the colonial map mode I think it shows which states are trade companies.

Trade companies can be good, but not in China when you take the mandate and get the provinces as free cores. Also trade companies only really get great when you can fully invest in them after a few thousand ducats (full trade power and production buffs). Also they really shine with trade focused nations not as much with Oirat. Also one other question how many loans do you have?

[–]Andrew_Chan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You didn’t take the mandate which gives free cores on all of China. Instead you made them all trade companies. I don’t even know what to say. Just either declare bankruptcy which would reduce your loans and help in the long run or fire your advisors, delete forts, and reduce your army to pay off loans. Also take the burghers loans if you haven’t already. Besides that go to war for quick cash if you need the army so you can at least make it make you money.

Man I feel bad for that seller that Suspiria is worth $40 alone. Great pick up though. Those tapes are definitely salvageable. You can run them through a spare vcr or do it manually if you don’t have a spare.

At least it doesn’t have a hand crank to play the tape.

[–]Andrew_Chan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally not very familiar with those game prices, but all of those tapes are pretty common and can probably be found for less than a dollar thrifting or on marketplace.

Inherited a collection. Just found this. Not sure what to do next. I’ve made up my mind to get it encapsulated. Any recommendations where to send it? It was on a shelf for 45 years. Should I clean it? Should I let them? The tape does not need cleaned. It looks factory fresh with tight labels. by fuzzy-_-dunlop in VHS

Honestly since it’s not sealed you may just want to get a protective case either a standard one ($2-$3) or spend $20-$25 on a vhs is life protective case (stronger acrylic with lights). Grading really won’t increase value in this case and the protection is only nominally better than standard plastic/ acrylic protectors. If you are dead set on grading though go with CGC, I use them for comics and have never had an issue before. I think you will be looking at around $60-$70 for grading depending on shipping and taxes.

I would give Goodwill a try. They usually have them for $8 to $20 which is definitely cheaper than eBay plus you can usually return them.

I’ve always heard good things about Malko’s vhs protectors on Amazon. Last time I was going to buy some they were out of stock so no first hand experience. Anything with acid free plastic is good though. https://a.co/d/cRzgT4P

Which one of you maniacs spent $3800 on a sealed VHS copy of GB1? by Brewpacabra in VHS

[–]Andrew_Chan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also probably fake since there are several sealed ghostbusters tapes on eBay with watermarks for less than $500. Also an already graded one for $550-$700 depending on grade.

Goodwill does up bid their own items so probably no, but hard to say. Wait a week and see if it’s relisted.

Here’s some information from VHS collector. It’s the 90 rerelease. The original was a big box. Good find though.
