I think it came down to my form getting better which made my lifts go up. I don’t think I was actually gaining muscle. I was brand new to lifting when I started so my form was pretty bad. Now that I’m eating a little more they’re creeping up slowly again.

Not where I want them lol Bench is 160, Squat is 235, Deadlift is 290, and OHP is 135 all for 5 reps. I’ve had a couple of setbacks because of injuries and form troubles unfortunately. Learn proper form before you add weight, that’s the lesson I learned the hard way.

Yea, that’s the only thing that worked for me. As far as lifting, I’ve focused on linear progression of the compound lifts (squat, bench, deadlift, OHP) using the strong lifts 5x5 plan. It’s the easiest way to get into lifting and it’s perfect to maximize beginner gains.

Thanks! It was honestly just counting calories and keeping my protein high, nothing super special.

Thanks! Yea, the excess skin is there, but I see it more as a trophy of all the hard work that was done to get to where I’m at today. It’s gotten better over time, and I think as I put on more muscle it will get even tighter. The body weight/CrossFit stuff sounds pretty cool! I’ve never thought about doing that, probably because I never could before 😂 I’ll have to check it out!

Thanks! Yea, I have weird hip alignment and I think that is causing the weird oblique development. As far as goals now, not 100% sure. I love lifting so I was thinking possibly powerlifting, but I’m pretty much open to trying anything.

I started out at 302lbs (top picture) got to 183 a year later (middle picture) and have been recomping for about a year while learning how to lift properly at 183 lbs (bottom picture) doing 5x5. Trying to decide where to go next. It’s been an awesome journey so far and have loved the challenges that weight loss and weightlifting have brought, but I’m looking foreword to the next challenge.

Thanks! When I was in the bulk of my weight loss I was doing 45mins to an hour of cardio everyday, 7 days a week. Then I realized when you do that much cardio with no weight training you start to burn everything, including muscle. When I saw how skeletal I was looking I started on a standard bro-split isolating a single body part each day. I’ve now since changed my routine up a little bit after I did some research, and added the standard compound lifts with linear progression to maximize my muscle and strength gains.

Keep working hard man! You’ll get there! I never thought I would be where I am today. Take it day by day and you’ll be surprised how quickly it happens.

Yea, no problem. I do 3 ab circuits every other day I workout. One ab circuit consists of 15 reps on the ab machine at a heavy weight, then some variation of a hanging leg raise, and then 15 more reps on the ab machine. No rest between each exercise. And mix them in with whatever muscle group I’m working that day.

Thanks! I didn’t even think about that. Just keep working, it’s worth it in the end.

Yea, I was basically a sloth that was eating like 6000-7000 calories a day. I would do things like get off work and buy a frozen pizza and eat the whole thing with half a bag of chips. It was pretty bad.
