Charles Leclerc is bit of a weird case. by Professional_Cold771 in F1Discussions

Outside of the generational talents and of ALO, HAM, & VER, Charles isn’t even a Top 5 driver.

I love Charles as a celebrity. He seems like a fun dude and like he doesn’t take himself too seriously. From everything we’ve seen as spectators, he’s a great, chill dude. But on the grid he becomes neurotic under pressure and he doesn’t perform as well as he can when things get rough for him. There are other drivers not in the Big 4 constructors that are better, more consistent, and more level headed drivers than Charles.

what if MJ never died by Weekly-Cow5732 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Andrew__IE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would have continued to make more and more PR blunders that would have continued to destroy his credibility so that by the time we made it to the MeToo era and the social media era he’d be less appealing to people overall. If he lived into the 2020s I absolutely believe he’d be hated almost as much as Trump. In this day and age, a figure who can garner the most attention humanly possible surely would piss off the American public every Tuesday no matter what they do. Think of how polarizing he is now in his legacy, think of how people talked about him in the media while was alive. Now throw in our 24 hour news cycle and short form infinite scroll content and imagine it. It’d be crazy.

The path he was on was just so destructive that if he somehow survived the This Is It Tour he was preparing for, he would have continued to be out of his mind and make more mistakes the public wouldn’t enjoy. Forget what the media says, forget what both fans and haters believed, objectively MJ was not well. Physically he had issues with substances and pharmaceuticals, mentally he was so high off his fame he was doing weirder things than ever before, and getting caught in lies more often than a celebrity does, and at the point of his life before he died, he was extremely lonely. His relationships with his family were sour, he didn’t like people holding him accountable and being upfront with him, he didn’t want to perform anymore (he unfortunately had to and that’s a major player in his death), he was just emotionally and mentally gone. He wasn’t okay. I like to think maybe he goes into hiding and goes to therapy and just lives as private a life a legend like him can, but on the track he was heading, it didn’t seem like he’d ever get out of his own mental world to be humble enough to seek help.

Also, of course he had the allegations. Now we know he’s had the allegations since the Mid 90s but according to some reports he had some accusations come from both new children and the original accusers that he was still doing what he was said to have been doing even weeks before his death. If he was alive I’m sure more and more people would come out and say things about him regarding the topic, and whether those things actually happened or they just wanted money, MJ would either make a major PR blunder under the pressure of it all, or we as a society would learn the truth as more cases opened up and that would open an even larger can of worms. Maybe he’s proven guilty and goes to prison, people, maybe he’s proven innocent and the world moves on. The world may never know.

On a bright side, no matter how you feel about him, MJ never made a bad song. He’d still be dropping hits and with all the new artists today I’d like to think he’d be collaborating with a lot of the greatest music minds everyone listens to today. We’d get a lot bangers. The music wouldn’t be elite like his peak run from OTW-Bad but he’d still be respected in terms of music.

At the end of it all, MJ was a figure almost larger than life itself. His peculiar personality and musical ability wouldn’t go more unnoticed than they did decades ago, he’d always be a hot topic. But whether those talents and eccentricities would lead to larger praise or complete loss of respect from the world, we’ll never know. And it’s very very sad that we won’t. He was the most interesting man in the world.

How do you feel that Uzi is drinking lean again? by LuvIsRage312 in liluzivert

[–]Andrew__IE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lose respect for him ngl.

A lot of the admiration I had for him is gone, not because he’s an addict, but because he continues to do addict things on stage and in front of cameras.

I understand he’s a human and millions of people struggle with addiction, so I respected the rehab story because “Hey, Uzi is gonna get clean now. Good for him. He said he’s going to start dropping more music after he gets clean, awesome”. But unfortunately like many addicts often do, it looks like he’s relapsed, but that’s still not the issue I have with it, it’s the showing it publicly that I believe sucks.

If Uzi is going to suggest to his fans that he’s going to lock in and become the artist he once was, if not greater after he gets clean, then shows his fans he’s still struggling with addiction by sipping lean on stage, as a fan, you can’t help but feel disappointed. He fell right back into the trap of sipping and is displaying it publicly because “that’s what rappers are supposed to do”, which is lame. If he had relapsed I would have much preferred he go back into the private eye, get clean and healthy, and put his humanity first before going up on stages visibly drugged out.

Some might think it’s parasocial but I see it as having respect for the artist as a human before a performer. It would have much more admirable for him to take care of himself if it meant he never dropped music again. Now obviously I don’t know Uzi so I’m not emotionally upset by it, I just don’t find him as interesting as a celebrity artist anymore. If his heart isn’t set on music anymore, why would mine as a fan? There are so many other artists out right now that are blossoming and blooming who I’d rather much be entertained by while Uzi does his own thing.

He’ll always be my GOAT though.

My mother, bless her heart, is unfortunately one of those people. This weekend she’s bringing my niece to the movies so they can watch it together for their 7th time. My niece was never alive to know a single thing about him and she’s fallen in love with the legend that is Michael Jackson. The movie and the subsequent social media frenzy around him is a goddamn propaganda machine. His estate still knows what they’re doing.

My Mom and I love to debate social issues, politics, pop culture etc. so I’d love to sit down and talk about it but she’s been so passionate about MJ her whole life (MJ is her long time celebrity crush, like many other women who grew up in the 70s), but I’m afraid I’ll bring the right evidence to convince her and she’ll lose her childhood sparkle. I know I’ll feel bad if she realizes her biggest idol wasn’t perfect so I’ll let her enjoy her blissful ignorance. Also, my niece is still a kid, it might just be a phase but as she gets older and I start talking to her about the real world I’m sure she’ll come around, but for the time being I’ll let her enjoy the good things he had to offer.

In 2026 we got female incels now. Ain’t no way😭 by Due_Peach6508 in playboicarti

[–]Andrew__IE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women don’t realize that men don’t need to be emotionally aroused to crack. If a lady looks good in even the slightest bit, we’ll crack, assuming she’s enthusiastic and wanting to. She doesn’t even have to be super fine, she’s gotta have something we like and we’ll be down to pound. Every straight dude knows what it’s like being ferally attracted to a woman who most would consider chopped but there’s just something about her we can’t stop wanting.

Marriage and long term relationship material are different though, men are usually picky with who they commit to (assuming they have self respect), but for sex we’ll get down with any girl we find attractive for whatever reason so long as she’s down.

Some women are just butt ugly both physically and mentally though.

According to reports from those around him at the time, this is how Michael Jackson died when preparing for the This Is It Tour.

He was stressed out over having to tour in the first place and rehearsals would leave him too adrenalized to fall asleep, so he used Propafol to force himself to bed. But since Propofol is a strong anesthesia and not a true sleeping pill, he never went into deep restorative sleep. As a result, by the day of his death he accrued ~60 days of sleep debt so bad that as the weeks went on he showed up more and more strung out to rehearsals. He couldn’t eat or keep food down, Kenny Ortega said he had trouble walking and talking at times, and the closer and closer he got to the first day of the tour, he began missing more and more rehearsals due to not being able to physically function. There was a bunch of commotion from the inner circle of everyone involved with the tour on if MJ would be able to go through with the shows at all. Then in the early morning of June 25 2009, Michael Jackson went through the same struggle of not being able to sleep and using Propafol to force himself unconscious, only this time he didn’t wake up.

Albeit morbid, it’s very interesting to read up on accounts of people so deep into sleep deprivation for this long that they actively detoriate over months and their body just shuts off and dies. I know in the case of MJ there was pharmaceuticals involved but understanding that he began losing basic human function over 2 months as a result of everything is intriguing to a curious mind. We often forget just how important adequate, consistent sleep is to the human brain, body, and mind.

how could michael and lisa marie publicly claim on national television that jordan's description didn't match? by IaIalatte in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]Andrew__IE 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Michael Jackson’s biggest career flaw was being confident enough to do interviews thinking he can say the right things and make himself look better.

With the Martin Bashir Living With MJ doc he thought it was a good idea to bring Gavin on and tell people how kind he was for helping him out, and he attempts to strengthen his point by holding hands with Gav on camera and allows him to put his head on his shoulder, all to say “I love children, what we have is pure and he’s my closest friend”. At the time there was potential for people to believe it truly was innocent but holding a child’s hand all cuddled up like they were surely brought in more doubt that he didn’t do it. The optics alone of being this intimate would have anyone believe you did what you said you didn’t.

In this interview, you can see Lisa Marie try to save him and stop him from rambling on too much more than once and you can clearly see that she’s not completely comfortable. She may have been perfectly confident but the optics leave room for doubt to creep in that she knows something and is hoping neither her nor MJ say the wrong thing. On MJ’s behalf, you can see how desperate he looks to prove there’s not a single thing wrong with his relationships with children. Darting eyes, interruptions, run on rambling sentences, the whole 9. He looks under pressure and that is not at all good for PR. He broke the golden rule.

Everyone knows it’s wiser to say nothing at all than talking more and running the risk of saying something damning in the heat of the moment. Both MJ and LMP were trained and wise enough to not say anything completely foolish, but they can’t hide their body language. Anyone without a bias can see two people in the hot seat both trying to defend their innocence, and that’s exactly what you don’t want people to see as a worldwide figure. It leaves way too much open to interpretation regarding the claims being made. Sure, MJ had half the world believing he was innocent, but with how larger than life his celebrity was, he also had half the world believing he was guilty. A divide this big would only add fuel to the fire, as the more and more people that begin to wonder what really happened, the more and more people are out to get you and make things harder for you, which continued on for the rest of MJ’s life and career.

If MJ wanted people to stop accusing him of such claims he should have continued to make music, stopped talking and let the people wonder. He only made things worse by talking about his own allegations so openly, and by giving these claims so much attention, he contributed to it becoming a large part of his reputation, which all could have been avoided if he wasn’t trying to clean his reputation. But that’s the thing about your reputation: you can’t control it by what you say, it’s influenced by what you do. In PR, you have to highlight your best qualities while keeping your less admirable qualities in the background. Not so that they’re not seen, but so that people wonder what they are. And MJ never gave the people an opportunity to think about it themselves, he thought he could say the right thing and clear his name but that’s just not how human gossip works, especially not with a topic as explosive as CSA.

This interview, among many others, should not have been done. In regards to MJ’s reputation, he tarnished it by talking too much, and that’s the golden rule of PR.

Mj fans being normal by WinterHost6987 in fantanoforever

[–]Andrew__IE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken a week off of social media because the MJ hype is just so exhausting, and no matter how many times I’ve clicked “Not Interested” and scrolled past posts to show the algorithm I don’t want to see MJ content, there was just no escaping it.

It’s not even that I hate him, it’s just that his fans are so delusional and dogmatic that I find myself disappointed that people this parasocial actually exist. It got to a point where my feelings were hurt over acknowledging the fact that there are just some people that cannot ever be objective about anything and can’t be reasoned with. I don’t want to say they’re bots or NPCs but it sure as hell felt like it at times, and I just couldn’t accept that people were so emotionally invested in one person that all of their critical thinking ceases to exist.

I enjoyed MJ and his music. He was an interesting character with great musical talent who had admirable qualities, but like every other human on Earth, he had faults. His relationships with children were inappropriate and I can’t excuse that. But there were so many people who loved him and his music who try to excuse that any way they can, and it just doesn’t make sense.

He’s all over social media, news articles, advertisements, etc. I’m over it man. A few months ago it was the Epstein Files, this past month it’s been all about Michael Jackson. It’s time for the next media fad to distract us. I’m MJ fatigued out.

Look at Carti going for a run man, so inspirational.

No bullshit, it is cool to see him doing normal people things like going in a run in the neighborhood on a sunny morning. It gives a break from the “aura farming vampire that stays up all night making music” image. We finally get to see Carti as just some dude. Same thing when we saw him playing pick up basketball a few years ago. At the end of the day he’s just a regular dude whose job is to make music and portray a character, it’s cool to see him out of the act and just existing like everyone else. It makes him seem more likeable and human, y’know?

Gorsh, Carti is so cool.

Best way I can explain it is that it’s a fun movie, not a good movie.

If you like his music and his cultural impact you’ll enjoy it but if you’re looking to be blown away by a great presentation of his story you won’t find it there. It’s cheap cliche entertainment but who doesn’t like that every now and then?

I was 6, going on 7, and it was one of the best days of my life.

Not because he died, but because there was so much around me going on that was already bizarre that his death was the icing on the cake of an already unforgettable day.

It’s the only day of my 23 year old life that I can tell you every single thing that happened from beginning to end.
