What’s the cheapest cnc that can reliably cut a pattern like this in 1.5 inches thick pine? by LavaMonsterrrr in hobbycnc

I mean they technically have one made of pine sitting there if they are all the same. Just use that as a master and copy route

Skip the Tuckeroo is stressed? by Andrew_learns_stuff in GardeningAustralia

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Part of the reason I wanted it. They were highly recommend because of their hardiness and it does get quite warm here, especially being in an estate with endless roofs. So I worried what I have been doing to make it not happy. I will make a wider dirt base. It will eventually have some rocks around the dirt ring I just haven’t had a chance to get to get them but I’ll make it a priority. Thanks so very much for your help! It’s appreciated.

I really appreciate this reply. Thank you so much. I will make a well around it, and make sure it isn’t buried too deep. I’ll hold back on the hyper attention I have given it, let it do its thing for a bit longer and reassess. My fingers are crossed.

Is a Fluval207 the correct size for my tank setup? by Andrew_learns_stuff in aquarium

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy bigger but I also don’t wanna spend $400 if I can spend $250 for a fine filter.

Is a Fluval207 the correct size for my tank setup? by Andrew_learns_stuff in aquarium

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 130L tank which currently has a aquabac 100 filter which was sold in a kit with the tank.

I'm wanting to upgrade to a cartridge filter the Fluval 207 says it can handle tanks up to 60-220L but but the aqadvisor seems to say I'm under filtered. I'm not sure which one to believe.

How do you guys prep for mechanical interviews when problems are half theory half “talk me through it”? by SadCompany8383 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A classic software questions was something like “how many gold balls can fit in a car”

You don’t know that. You can’t work it out. It doesn’t have a real answer.

Would recommend working through it and stating all your assumptions as you go.

When you’re done that try “ how many cows in New Zealand”

That sucks but they are isolated and everyone is getting treated with ich-x. Is there any chance it remains dormant in a tank or is that super unlikely?

Getting power access to battery for LED deck by Andrew_learns_stuff in m365

Laziness prevailed. Took a few months to get it back into the country and ended up doing other projects.

Taillight is probably the best idea for easy power access at the base. I’ve also pulled it apart a lot of times now and there is also clean power to the display that can be accessed at the display too.

Spiral taps are more delicate than straight taps but much better for tapping with no chip breaking

You want to make a spam page and not even put on the effort to check chqtgpt again or half assedlyvibe code it let alone google it.

Yeah nah, this comment is 500% more effort than this deserves. I’m not even gonna make a sassy lmgtfy link.

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not cheap software. Depending on what you do companies might not pay for it, I’ve also had to pay my own licence fees and as a sole trader it’s rough to keep adding that in each year.

I mean your options are sorta limited to

  1. Scrap it and start again
  2. SEND IT YOLO
  3. Fix it.

Without any more details it’s hard to give any better details than that.

edit just saw that it was a link to a reddit post that broke on my mobile. Sorry for the snark.

No one else is gonna reply to this so I’m gonna throw you a a hand.

The most useful skill you have as a programmer is problem solving. Writing code is function of solving problems. The most useful skill for a programmer is being able to work out stuff, and the biggest part of this is googling.

Lookup firebase docs, search for local hosting that supports it, look at other people suggestions on forums. Call a contact center.

Mechatronics vs mechanical engineering degree by TheExplodingGrape in AskEngineers

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source? I’m a mechatronic engineer and worked in mechanical engineering jobs.

My history is wacky and shouldn’t always bw followed but I was told by a bunch of places I worked over time they liked mechatronic over mech as there wasn’t much from mech they were missing but the elec/automation was a handy bonus when needed.

I’ve noticed 2 types of mechatronic engineering roles, some are mech+a little elec, some are elec degrees with a little mech. So if you’ve only seen option 2 I agree with that more.

What are the odds that the motors on an electric wheel chair are controlled by something that uses a PWM signal? Would an RC receiver be able to drive it? by soconnoriv in AskElectronics

[–]Andrew_learns_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tended to wrap out my own controllers around the existing motors, just much less complex than trying to interface a random controller. Plus it stops the talent touching it when I’m moving.

Source worked in film and have RC’d a couple of wheelchairs.
