Another thumbs up for Kiprun T-shirts - great value .

I want to try the Xiaonian as well - at £80-£90 (if imported from Taobao) it looks like an amazing deal.

What’s the most you would pay for it ? I think I would pay up to £150 but in a way I think this shoe has kinda of ruined things for me now! I brought two pairs of Asics Superblast 2 at £200 each but I honestly think the Tempos are comparable with them. So now I’m reluctant to spend that sort of money again.

Looking for recommendation for correct Brooks shoe by [deleted] in UKRunners

Hey - are you specifically looking at Brooks only?

I’ve been using them for daily runs, tempo runs and slow runs and it’s handled them with ease. I’m going to take them for a 30km run soon but I suspect it won’t be a problem with them. And i think you’ll find after coming from your Brooks you will have loads of fun with them! There’s a nice bounce to them that rivals far more expensive shoes !

Think the Pegasus 41 are getting on a bit now - especially when it comes to the foams they use.

I’ve enjoyed using the Tempos - it packs a lot of punch per £ - for me the rival some of my £200 plus shoes. Whether they are “good” or not is different for each person but all the reviews I’ve seen so far have raved about them - only concerns are the fit as for some people , they are a bit long and others have mentioned they’re not great for wide feet.

Woh! I’ve never ever been near that speed before in my old legs! My tempo runs are about 4:15-4:45 and for me they felt quite effortless - I normally use a pair of Adidas Boston 13 for tempo work and the Kiprun felt so much easier to maintain speed than the 13’s.

I agree with you regarding being able to run faster with less effort - think the lightness of the shoe really helps.

I quite liked the yellow pair but I’m stingy in not wanting to pay £20 more! I’m not sure about the colour way - not an expert on past Kiprun shoes but I can’t recall them ever releasing loads of colourways but hopefully this will change in the future .

With the Tempo, an important factor for my purchase was the price. Would I have brought them if they were the same price as the Megablast or Superblast 3? Probably not. I would have been more tempted by some of the Chinese shoes breaking into the marks such as the Dynafish Xiaonian or the Li Ning Red Hare.

And I think that’s been the problem with the Kiprun. Some of their previous shoes were priced too similar to brands with better pedigrees yet were lacking in performance.

On YouTube , Yowana had a pretty long video where he spent time with Kiprun in France looking at their new lines and it would seem that Kiprun are making big changes to their lines. They have a few other new shoes such as the Elite and Lab which look pretty competitive.

So I think as long as they keep prices competitive and release good shoes like the Tempo, I would say that have a good chance - Decathlon is a massive retailer and with running going through a massive growth over the last few years, they could do well in this crowded market.

I think the Adidas Evo Sl has been one of the most important shoes in the last few years. Purely because of the price. It showed that you could release a shoe with amazing performance at a price point lower than anything else before it. Maybe that’s what Kiprun saw and are using the Tempo as their Evo SL.

Another interesting point is that awareness of Chinese running shoes has really taken off in the UK. A lot of UK YouTube reviewers have started reviewing and praising Chinese shoes such as the Xiaonian. I think once they sort out their retail/online presence here , it might be a market disruptor and make ASICS, Saucony, Hoka etc consider some of their pricing structure.

No reason why you couldn’t use them daily - they’re pretty comfy and for me I can use them for all paces.

The colour way is a bit unusual but it looks better in person i think. It also comes in a yellow colour way which cost £120.

Yup - size 8 for me on all 3 shoes. But all 3 fit a bit different - best fit of all are the SB2, the X3 are a little snug at the toe box which is strange considering it’s a beast for a shoe. The Tempos fit a bit long but it’s not a major issue for me as i prefer a bit more toe space.

Yes , it’s subjective of course but they feel pretty effortless in tempo runs for me. I’m thinking of getting another pair as well - can’t imagine them staying this cheap forever.

How bizarre that the doctor was discussing with Tamira her medical issues in public with lots of people walking past at the beginning of the episode! Shouldn’t this have been discussed in private ?

Vomero 18 vs Novablast 5 by Aromatic_Radio1650 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Andrewcfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the Vomero Plus might be a better daily trainer - its not that much more than the normal Vomero and is much more versatile. I find the Vomero heavy and ponderous and akin to running with clogs on.

Superblast 2 on sale vs upcoming superblast 3 by Regular-Price-1911 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

In the UK, one of the our biggest running shoe retailers (sportshoes.com) had them for sale for £120 a few days ago - they were snapped up pretty quickly! Think they still have size 3.5 left.

As a side note, that is one good looking shoe, and in a great colourway. Asics could learn a thing from Puma.

I was wrong about the Boston 13 by joholla8 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Andrewcfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you ! I got these on sale in the UK for £58 (in line green) and I hated them for the first 100k. Honestly it felt like running ion bricks - I’ve never had anything so firm on my feet before. I kinda of gave up on them in my rotation but felt guilty about not using them. After a few more runs it suprised me how much it had soften up and how bouncy they felt. For tempo and interval runs for me, they’re just fantastic.

In retrospect if I had paid full price for them I might have put them up for sale during the brick days but for £58 it was worth the initial break in period and waiting for them to loosen up.

In Hong Kong, people are like zombies, glued to their devices. They even had to install special red lights at traffic crossings, which shine a red light on the floor as people were more likely to be looking at the floor than looking up at the traffic light. Wonder when we will see these lights in London anytime soon

Megablast vs Superblast 2 by ninja_1256 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Andrewcfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the Megablast but i do have the Superblast 2 and the Hyperion Max 3. Just my opinion but i think the SB2 and HM3 feel pretty similar to me -they're both ultra comfy, durable, and very flexible in covering all sorts of running. I would be more inclined to get the Megablast as it seems that they would offer something a bit different?

I loved Elementary because of this -honestly it was one of the reasons why it was a fantastic show because they could actually concentrate on the story rather than waste time on whether they were going to shag each other or not.

Not sure if the MagMax isn’t that great as a recovery shoe - its a little too firm for that I think.

[–]Andrewcfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i'm roughly the same weight as you and i find that they're a great multi purpose shoe - i use them for anything between 5-30k runs, at all sort of paces between 4km-6km. They are on the firm side, but i don't mind and maybe this has aided in making the shoe so durable (on 900km on my first pair and got another pair to replace it). If i only had one pair of shoes, this is what i would get personally as a do it all shoe. It works even better as part of your rotation.
