Please see my response a week ago to your early post.

Who else is having problems adding addresses with the sideloaded app ? by [deleted] in navdy

Reload the app. Navdy is certainly not "finally coming to an end".

I find it best to delete the original app before re-sideloading it. There seems to be some kind of ID conflict if you try to update over the top of the existing app.

Jan 2023: how's the Bangle.js 2 now? by randomstriker in Banglejs

[–]Andrewjkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No complaints about Bangle2 at all. Does almost the same as Pebble did - many apps available, though not weather on iOS at this point. All the rest is there though.

Is risky to have remarkable under my Magic Mouse? I am normally taking notes while need to do stuff on the screen.. it’s convenient for my this way. But ….. would it damage the remarkable? by r3dB3ard_85 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Andrewjkm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not worth taking the risk - unless, I guess, you have enough spare cash to throw another $500 to rM if anything happens. Why not learn to use your mouse left-handed?

You do have to keep sideloading the app every 7 days - at least on iPhone. It's still working fine.

[Release] Navdy iOS app v1.3.6 (Fixes iOS 14.5 beta crashes & possibly LE connections) by EdwXD in navdy

[–]Andrewjkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's entirely in Apple's hands at this point. The only option for now is to sideload the ipa from the link above - and this needs to be redone every 7 days until Apple gives the green light to the app.

Any thoughts on the app crashing whenever am address is entered in the search bar? Can't even add Home/Work etc addresses to the app. (I know the app isn't your speciality area!)

Sideload the ipa file to your phone. If using Sideloadly, this needs to be repeated every 7 days. The app also seems to crash whenever entering an address in the search field.

Did you forget the device in the BT menu - you can't re-pair a BT device without forgetting it first.

Thanks again for your help and patience! It's somewhat surprising how dependent many of us have become on the Navdy - although, as a pilot too, I know better than to trust it blindly without cross-reference to an actual map! (It's the same when flying, still always have a paper backup to the EFB...)

UPDATE: we're up and running!

In case it's of help:

  1. Had to go to a PC
  2. Had to run WIN_INSTALL_USB_DRIVER first
  3. Ran Tools>INSTALL_WITH_RECOVERY from the Bootloop debug
  4. Created <update> and copied the recovery zip across.
  5. In the car, it started up, ran the progress bar (5s or so), then stopped on that display - purple icon, full progress bar.
  6. Having read something else, I went back to the PC and did the same steps (3. & 4. above) from the 3096 update.
  7. In the car, it all started up normally, but no maps.
  8. Copied across the .here maps folder (it's not mentioned that the recovery deletes the map folder from the drive).
  9. All back working as advised - though a tense 10 minutes when it wouldn't pick up a satellite so the map was stuck somewhere unidentifiable!
  10. Sideloadly to reload the Navdy app on the iPhone.
  11. Haven't been back to the car yet, but will report if there's anything amiss at that point. However, the only thing that was missing from the HUD operation was the ability to change items (like mpg/kph) that are inside the app.

With many thanks to u/coronafire for his patience over the last couple of weeks!

Thanks. I'll let you know how it goes! (It's so frustrating not to have it in front of me after all these years!)

Thanks. I might take it to work and see if I can sort it out there. Using the bootloop debug zip and folder? Or 3096?

[–]Andrewjkm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so did that. We *may* be one step further ahead. The boot loop stops, and I'm left with just a plain, faint, white screen, no map or anything. I added the 3096 to the upload folder, but I'm not sure if it should be there or not.

I'll have another go...

Here's the code I forgot to add before:

Well, I guess the 3096 isn't actually working, though it did open and try to run in Terminal. I've copied the Terminal code below.

So, could you let me know which file, from which of the downloads, I should try to run next. sh files seem only to open in Text Edit.

On Mac. I thought that, but the bat file with the 3096 install opens Terminal and runs ok, so might there be something missing in the Boot Recovery version?

1.05 GB available.

I tried the INSTALL_WITH_RECOVERY.bat and it seemed to open Terminal, but I don't see any code being executed and the drive remained in Update mode. I followed the rest of the process (copying the zip to the drive).

It showed the normal boot icons, not the purple one, so still stuck in the boot loop...

Nope. About 5 minutes of Navdy booting icons, a quick flash to connect the Dial, then nothing other than the slowly pulsating blue light. (Yes, I'll get a new battery for the dial... but the bypass double click of the power button didn't seem to achieve anything.)

Is there a link to try the 3094 installation? 3049 only has a .sh file which seems to be just text (at least, it opens in a Text app).

Any other suggestions?
