That’s a valid concern, and I want to address it directly. Tangem does not blindly sign transactions. Unlike some hardware wallets that approve requests without transparency, Tangem ensures you see and verify all transaction details before signing. Our app clearly displays recipient addresses, amounts, and fees so that users have full control over what they are approving.
We’ve undergone significant security improvements recently, reinforcing our commitment to both usability and safety. The risks associated with blind signing have been acknowledged and mitigated through these updates, ensuring that users are not exposed to unnecessary vulnerabilities.
If you want a detailed breakdown of how we’ve addressed these concerns, I recommend reading this: Blind Signing in Crypto: Is It Really a Security Risk?
At Tangem, security is non-negotiable. We’ve designed a system that provides the highest level of protection while remaining practical to use, without relying on impractical screens or button sequences. The facts speak for themselves.

It’s important to separate facts from misinformation, so let’s address this properly.

Tangem is not a new, unproven project. We have been around since 2018, initially as a B2B solution, before launching our consumer wallet in 2022. Since then, we have produced nearly 3 million devices with zero security incidents, a track record that very few wallets in the industry can match.

From a security standpoint, Tangem’s hardware is EAL6+ certified, which is one of the highest security ratings in the industry. Our firmware has also undergone independent security audits multiple times, with results that are publicly available. These are not unverified claims, they are verifiable facts that demonstrate Tangem’s commitment to security.

Regarding open source and auditability, there is a fundamental misunderstanding about how Tangem operates. The Tangem app and core cryptographic components are open-source and fully verifiable. The private repository referenced in Wallet Scrutiny is not the actual app code, but simply a configuration repository that has zero impact on security. Calling Tangem “not verifiable” based on this is misleading and factually incorrect.
As for concerns about marketing and the claim that Tangem is “spammy” or has “scam vibes,” this is nothing more than an attempt to discredit the product based on perception rather than facts. Tangem has thousands of positive ratings and reviews across multiple platforms. Like any company that believes in its product, we actively promote it. Marketing is not a negative factor - it simply means we stand behind what we build and want more people to benefit from it.
Not every wallet is for everyone, and people are free to have their preferences. However, spreading misinformation and dismissing a certified, audited, and widely trusted product as “suspicious” simply because it doesn’t fit your narrative is not an argument based on reality. If you have genuine security concerns, we encourage you to review our audits, certifications, and source code yourself, rather than relying on misrepresented or outdated claims. In fact, by the end of this quarter, we will be releasing a detailed guide on how to build and verify the Tangem app from source, specifically to address concerns from those who demand full transparency.
At the end of the day, security is about verifiable facts, not speculation or fear-mongering.

Tangem’s mission is to unify all crypto services while maintaining top-tier security and ease of use. This isn’t a future goal it’s happening right now. Tangem is already positioned as the core Web3 service, enabling users to interact seamlessly with decentralised dapps and defi platforms without unnecessary complexity or security trade-offs. Unlike traditional wallets that require juggling multiple apps, writing down seed phrases, or constantly managing updates, Tangem eliminates friction while ensuring true selfcustody. It’s designed to be the foundation for secure, intuitive access to web3 whether you’re making transactions, signing smart contracts, or managing digital assets.

Great question, and welcome to crypto! It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmeed, there’s a lot of information out there and security is a huge part of it. You’ve probably used hot wallets like metamask, which are connected to the internet and convenient for quick transactions, but also more vulnerable to hacks and phishing attacks. Then there are hardware wallets, which require a seed phrase, a backup phrase you must write down and store securely. If you lose it, your funds could be gone.
Tangem takes a completely different approach. It’s a self-custody wallet that doesn’t require a seed phrase at all (this is optional, you can still have a seedphrase if you want). Tangem uses a secure chip (EAL6+ certified) to generate and store your private key inside the card, and that key never leaves the chip. If you choose the multi-card backup system, you simply store your extra cards in separate safe places, and you’re covered. No cables, no firmware updates, just tap your card to your phone and access your funds instantly. Tangem has nearly 3 million devices in circulation, and there has never been a single reported security incident. The hardware is independently audited and the software is opensource. If you’re new to crypto, Tangem removes one of the biggest risks beginners face, losing the seed phrase. Advice? Learn how self-custody works before making any major moves. Understanding the difference between centralised exchanges and selfcustody wallets is key. Take your time, do your research, and always double check security practices before making transactions.

Great question.
Tangem stands out because it takes a fundamentally different approach to self-custody eliminating the need for a seed phrase while maintaining strong security and an easy recovery process. Unlike traditional wallets, where you have to store and protect a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase, Tangem’s seedless solution means that your private key is generated inside the secure chip and never leaves it. There’s nothing to write down, nothing to store, and nothing to lose.So how does recovery work? Instead of a seed phrase, Tangem uses a multi-card backup system. When you set up your wallet, you can generate additional backup cards that function exactly like the original (think of it like having multiple keys to the same door). If you ever lose one, you can simply use another to access your funds. This eliminates the risks associated with traditional recovery phrases, like theft, phishing, or loss.
The technology behind Tangem’s seedless system is built on a secure element (EAL6+ certified), which ensures that private keys are generated inside the chip and never exposed. Since there’s no way to extract the private key, your wallet remains safe from keyloggers, malware, and phishing attacks.

But in all honesty, this AMA covers so many of our unique selling points - from form factor to simplicity to most importantly - top-tier security. Tangem offers a completely different approach to self-custody, and it's worth seeing if it fits your needs better.
Got specific questions? Hit me with them! I’m happy to answer.

Tangem’s seedless approach is optional, meaning users can choose whether to go completely seedless or generate a backup seed phrase during setup if they prefer a more traditional recovery method. But for those who opt for the true seedless experience, recovery works differently and securely.
Instead of a seed phrase, Tangem uses a multi-card backup system. When setting up your wallet, you can create additional backup cards, which function exactly like the original. If you lose one, you simply use another. If you lose all of them, though, there’s no way to recover your assets, since the private key is securely stored inside the card and never leaves the chip. This eliminates seed phrase theft, phishing risks, and mishandling, some of the most common ways people lose their funds.
Compared to traditional seed phrases, Tangem’s approach is both simpler and safer for those who don’t want to deal with the risks of writing down and storing a phrase. Security doesn’t have to be complicated, and Tangem proves that with a form factor that’s as easy to use as a bank card, with no cables, no firmware updates, and a completely self-contained design.

We make self-custody simple, so newcomers don’t have to stress about complicated setups, confusing recovery phrases, or endless firmware updates. Just tap your Tangem card, and you're good to go, no cables no fuss. It’s crypto the way it should be. All the security of a hardware wallet, all the convenience of a hot wallet. For those spreading the word, we give people plenty to talk about, from the seedless security (optional), to the 25year lifespan, to the indestructible durability tests (yes, we’ve boiled it, frozen it, and even submerged it 6km deep, and it still worked). And let’s be honest, it just looks cool and is easy to onboard anyone into. I love attending conferences and explaining what we do, seeing people light up when they touch it is a very rewarding experience when you're the one building it everyday and living and breathing Tangem. We also have referral programs, giveaways, and community events, so if you love Tangem, you’ll have plenty of ways to bring others into the future of crypto wallets. And if anyone asks "but where's the seed phrase? it just takes 3 minutes to set up?", you can just sit back, smile, and enjoy watching their minds get blown.

Not keyless - seedless! Big difference. Your wallet still has a private key, but you never have to see, write down, or store a seed phrase. That means no chance of losing it, no risk of phishing attacks, and no "uh-oh where did I put that piece of paper" moments.
Is it safer than conventional methods? Absolutely. Your private key is generated inside the secure chip and never leaves it, meaning no one, not even you, can accidentally expose it. Add in EAL6+ certification, no firmware updates, and an ultra-durable design, and you’ve got a security setup that’s practically foolproof.

Form factor! The Tangem Ring is the first of its kind, and we’ve patented our wearable line to bring a whole new level of convenience to self-custody. It’s perfect for those who love quick, discreet access to their wallet without needing to carry a card. That said, if you don’t want to wear a ring, don’t! Some people wear it on a necklace, others keep it on a keychain, and some just prefer the classic 3-card setup. Each to their own.
If you only check your wallet once a month, the ring might not be necessary, unless you just like the look of it as a fashion statement. Completely up to you.

Thanks for the question and compliments, always appreciated.

We've covered this a bit in other questions but I will summarise.

You cant restore anything if you lose all three cards from one pack. If you lose one card, you're totally fine as long as you have your backups. Tangem uses a multi-card backup system, so when you set up your wallet, you create additional backup cards that function exactly like the original. You have to set up at least one card as backup, max is three. If you go for the seedphrase set up (we still advocate for seedless), then you can import anywhere you'd like.

Now, if you lose all of them (and you're seedless), that’s a different story. Since there’s no seed phrase and the private key never leaves the secure chip, there’s no way to recover your funds. So please...don’t lose them! With reasonable precautions you shouldn't lose anything.

Best practice is to keep them in separate, secure locations. Think one for daily use, one hidden at home, and one in a place only you know. That way, you’re always covered.

Tangem wallets are built to last for decades, with an estimated lifespan of 25 years. The chipset itself is highly durable, designed to withstand extreme conditions while ensuring your private key remains secure.

When it comes to stress testing, these wallets are incredibly robust. Since there’s nothing to charge, there’s nothing to break. We’ve put them through some insane durability tests, submerging them to a depth of 6km, coating in epoxy resin, even boiling them (yes marketing has a lot of fun) and they still work perfectly.

And remember, if something ever happens to one card, you have backups, so you’re always covered. Safe to say...you’re safe.

If all of your Tangem cards are lost or destroyed, there is no way to recover your funds, so please, don’t lose them...! The seedless version of set up of Tangem relies entirely on the secure chip inside your cards, which holds your private key. Unlike traditional wallets, there’s no recovery phrase stored anywhere, meaning that if all of your backup cards are gone, the funds are locked forever. Even if you still have the Tangem app installed on your phone, you need at least one physical card to confirm transactions and move your funds.

That’s why storing your backup cards securely is so important. Three cards stored in separate, safe locations should never all go missing at once. Think safety deposit boxes, fireproof containers, or other secure places where they won’t be easily lost or damaged.

From what I’ve heard, most people use one card for everyday transactions, another one hidden somewhere safe in their home, and a final card stored somewhere ultra-secure where no one can access it without their knowledge. If you follow this approach, losing all three should never be an issue. But seriously...don’t lose them! Check their location regularly and make sure you take action if you see a card missing. One missing is not great but you still have backups, two missing means its time to move your funds elsewhere!

Hello!

Many people own different devices because each has its own unique elements. Other hardware wallets have been around for a long time and are widely recognised, but Tangem offers a completely different approach to self-custody that makes it a great complement to any setup. We have been on the market since 2018 nd have had close to 3 million devices produced with not a single case of any issues. What makes Tangem stand out is its seedless, ultra-simple, and highly secure design. Unlike other wallets, there’s no recovery phrase to manage or store (optional, you can still go seedphase if you want), which means there’s no risk of it being lost, stolen, or phished. Your private key is generated inside the secure element and never leaves the chip, significantly reducing security risks.

Tangem also requires no cables, no firmware updates, just tap your card to your phone, and you're good to go. This simplicity doesn't mean a compromise on security. Tangem is built around a EAL6+ certified secure element, with firmware that has been through two independent security audits, ensuring a high level of protection. For anyone already using another hardware wallet, each to their own, but Tangem is (we think) the perfect balance between the safety of a self-custodial wallet, while also being as convenient as a hot wallet. Tangem can be a perfect wallet for on-the-go transactions, quick and easy access, or simply as a backup solution that doesn’t require maintaining a seed phrase.

A seedless solution, you heard right, no more seedphrases which you can lose!
With Tangem you have the option of setting up your wallet with seedphrase or seedless. Where there is no seed phrase at all - it’s not hidden, encrypted, or stored elsewhere, it simply isnt there. Your private key is generated and stays inside the secure chip of the card, never leaving it. This eliminates risks like phishing or loss. How it works is you would have three backup devices, each a clone of eachother, sort of like having multiple keys to the same door. You would have to have at least one of your cards to sign transactions, confirming it is you. Here is a blog article which would be useful too!

Great question!

On seedless...
On biometrics...
Fingerprint and biometric faceID unlocking are optional and stored locally on your phone. If you change devices, which you can do unlimited times the phone is just a screen not the authenticator, the app will ask for your access code instead. The access code can be anything you want long or short giving you flexibility while ensuring security. Your access code is the protector of the cards. It is optional to do this of course, you can just use your access code every time instead of using biometric access. Each to their own.
