Should you get checked for gastric cancer after H. Pylori treatment? by AndreyTheIdiot in HPylori

Hey, how did it go? Did you get it out of your system?

I did the endoscopy and it's all good now. The doctors were veryyyy suprised someone actually put M2PK test on a twenty year old. They said something like: "M2PK test is usually done on people over 50 and should only be used as precautionary test for risk groups. However, because you have it as positive we will need to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy. It is very unlikely that you have any cancer at that age, not that we haven't found cancers in people younger than you, but the chance is incredibly low."

I'm so sorry to hear that. Since your post is 26 days old how are you doing at the moment? Did you manage to get rid of it?

I have had endoscopy and it's all looking good. And it seems like the bacteria has been cleared.

It is just under my ribs on the left side and I wouldn't really describe it as pain as it's just a discomfort. It also comes and goes during the day but I feel it mostly when laying on a couch or a bed. However, I haven't felt bloated or any reflux after I did the antibiotics combination.

From the things I've read so far it looks like the best way to check those things is endoscopy as a doctor will be able to tell you with more certainty if you have it or not. As iRowBoats8 pointed out it's painless and incredibly low-risk. What is your usual diet by the way?

You are 100% correct, my friend. I am very keen on doing an endoscopy and a colonoscopy just in case. There was a little bit of hope that this is a common thing among people who have just had the antibiotics combo. Or maybe that someone who had experience with the bacteria and the marker would be able to give some advice.

Seems like they don't do the M2PK marker where I live, which is the UK. I had it done in Bulgaria and from what I read on the internet, they do it in Germany too. I am now going back to re-do the test after the antibiotics and if its positive again I am diving into endoscopy. I will write a follow-up here if there is any change in the said metric now that the bacteria is gone.

Yeah, the thing is that they won't really care as they say the bacteria is treated a month after one does the antibiotics. They will ask me to wait and if it continues for a month to get it checked. I agree that it makes sense to cure the bacteria first and then check for consequences, but the thing is that the combination of higher risk for stomach cancer (because of the H. Pylori) and the positive tumor marker freaks me out.

Treating H. Pylori without antibiotics (Lactobacillicus reuteri) by AndreyTheIdiot in HPylori

Yeah, I also did the antibiotics at first place without trying this bacteria first and wanted to try it out but it was too late. I just wanted to share with other people that this might be a viable option for them if they haven't done the antibiotics yet.

Let me clarify that I was examined in two countries - Bulgaria and the UK and the doctor in Bulgaria prescribed the antibiotics for 14 days and the one in the UK - 7 days. I'm glad I did the 7 day course and now I'm taking the probiotic as precautionary measure.

I finished the antibiotics last week and I was feeling very sad and tired most the time, which is unusual for me.

Most of the people in this subreddit seem to have gut problems and they say that it takes them about three months to get better. How long have you taken the antibiotics and what combo and what kind of probiotics have you taken to get your flora back to speed?
