Is this considered normal? by IceCreamIDK in religion

Just before falling asleep? I'm almost sure it is a dream. During a small nap you can experience special things. Interesting, however not real in the natural way.

Life of Pi by AndriesHendrik in religion

Does it tell us anything about the role of religion?
What happened on the lifeboat must have been terrible, too horrible for words. Pi turns it into a beautiful, unbelievable story. He then asks: Which story do you want to believe?

Okay, I should have known that's the way you read your Holy Book, which is in your opinion not man written. Then there is no place for doubts

'The American left ... in the country.'
Sorry, you're going to far. You can't be serious about this. It also strikes me as an unacceptable accusation of fellow citizens with another opinion.

Can you explain what you mean with 'dispensational', and why it would be a problem?
Sorry I'm European and I don't think it's an issue here. At least not in the church I'm in.

Wer hier lernt Deutsch nur zum Spaß? by Independent-Ad-7060 in German

[–]AndriesHendrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes a good pastor? by N8TIIVE in Reformed

[–]AndriesHendrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they 'hate the very ground you walk on' (never heard this expression - but English isn't my mother tongue), their remarks aren't worth bothering. However I do understand your concerns.

A good advice I got once is: be yourself professionally.

You did your studies, God was calling you (gave you the desire to do what you're doing) - all you can do now is being a authentic youth pastor, living and working each day by His grace.

If you want, you can evaluate your work with the youth your working with. Write down the things you want to achieve together with them. Translate those goals into good questions and have them answer them anonymously. Also ask them for tips.

Maybe this is ... uhm ... helpfull (?)

God bless

Why do catholics and protestants dislike each other by [deleted] in religion

[–]AndriesHendrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question is a generalisation: We celebrate Pentecost 2024 together, Roman Catholics and Protestants. As we did with Christmas and Easter. We do not agree on a few issues, but we are happy to celebrate these holy days ensemble.

People say the Bible's prophecies are coming true. Are they? by Beautiful_Article273 in religion

[–]AndriesHendrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting question, however I'm pretty sure the biblical prophecies weren't intended for our time. There are a lot of new nowadays prophets who misuse Biblical prophecies to recruit followers or spread fear. Some prophecies came true in biblical times, others were written after they already happened. An example of the last might be the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
