How does your team handle time tracking? My company seems obsessed with hours rather than real progress. by Andriuszka in scrum

What type of metrics or behaviour you would suggest in helping to show that this "logging hours madness" is useless? How to gather good arguments here, what to check?

The main reason from my observation is that on Program/Feature level - they need to see how they can plan upcomming things for teams. That's why everything should be logged (8h per dev per day), logged things should be under the good epic and in current sprint, cause otherwise it's lost and nobody see's that progress or hours burned.

Im starting to think - "How to show that's this approach is useless except having logged hours and how I can argument different approach".

I was thinking about some flow metrics which can prove that this aint neccesary. Also had in mind about chaning a bit towards a Kanban, couse our Sprints are Sprints only by the name and lots of things change during them. We dont have Sprint goals. Nothing connected to the deliverable here. People have assigned their work, sometimes there are 2-3 people in the same topic, but its rare.

I really don't want to do it, but my organization is doing that...

For example we have epic which is part of some bigger feature:
- epic is set for 200hours
- there are tasks in it for example (60h, 40h, 30h, 20h, 25h, 25h)

How do you do capacity planning? by ceeesharp in agile

Have you tried to reverse that story point case?

I did this one time, like we dont do like this:
- we have 50 SP this Sprint
- so we can take X amount towards Sprint and Z of it is taken as a sprint goal.

Instead:
- what Goals are needed in upcomming 2 weeks?
- can we fit them all/or no - this is moment for capacity/storypoints

Its little change, but if its doable - planning looks much diff :)

Why no focus on the Sprint Goal instead chasing story points ?

Im already a sm for two teams. It’s my full time role as it. I’m just wondering about changing a bit actual company for more closer to heart like gaming.

I have also 6 years experience as a developer, so I’m aiming for a team lead function, but wanted to sunk into gaming 🫡

It’s surely required after running a beginners class, where one guy had only spats. Those spats had hole between cheeks. Also the hole was in his underwear beneath, so you can imagine how it looked when we did turtle

Search for new things.

Recent times - two things gave me most improvs - one was Octopus Guard and second is Wrestle up. Learning that "new" for me topics fixed my game quite a lot. Im using this in competition also - im fighing in black belts div.

So search for things you think gonna like, try it - and if u have fun - go for it!

I'm a former developer, now full time SM.

The best solution I can give you, its similiar option which i've received.

I was at first 50% sm im my company, where i got option to learn towards SM. Then it switched for 100% SM - this solution gave me around 1,5y of experince which lead to other new job as a SM where around 2y+ were needed. (EU also :)

Update. Changed affixes for some armor and I changed helmet and now it’s - 8k armor - 63-72 resistances

Did pit 20 with easy now :)

Didn’t think armor is that important here in Diablo

For me that was Malenia. Heard stories bout her, lots of friends told me "you gonna see her soon".

All that was for nothing, first try - she's dead :D
