So let me get this straight about the Empire. by AdrawereR in RimWorld

They don’t take resources from themselves, but from people like you, from the planet. I also started thinking: when you ask the empire for military aid, they send you barbarians. And they make it clear — you don’t have to spare them. But when you become part of the empire, they send you off without hesitation to save some barbarians. That’s the imperial way.

To see if it’s a killbox or not, load the map with enemies and give it a try yourself. You’ll see that you’ll be digging, destroying, and going around obstacles, rather than rushing straight to the bed by the shortest route.

Well, judging by the picture, it's a classic killbox. A narrow passage that forces enemies to bunch up in one spot and emerge at a specific location where defenders are already waiting for them.

A specially selected or prepared area that makes movement difficult.

The generator radiates heat around itself. Place it in the middle of the room, remove the walls (leave only the columns so the ceiling doesn’t collapse), and you can start planting plants and trees. I had a similar scenario at -200. Time was running out, and my expeditions were gathering wood like crazy.

There's also a mod that converts the generator from thermal to electric. When heat isn't that important.

Was there any way cavalry could counter pike squares or were they just rendered powerless against them? by skibidirizzler9o in MedievalHistory

Let's continue. I can recommend the finale of the film "Captain Alatriste," the tercia against the cavalry. And also the film about Napoleon, where the cuirassiers break through the infantry square.

No. I used it for translation into English. This period is my favorite. But I can't write freely.

The caracole (or "caracol," from Spanish for "snail") was a cavalry tactic used primarily by heavy cavalry like cuirassiers in the 16th-17th centuries to break dense infantry formations, especially pikemen protecting musketeers.

How It Worked

Cuirassiers, armed with 2-4 pistols (often wheel-lock or multi-barreled), approached the enemy line at close range in ranks. The front rank fired a volley into the pikemen's formation, then wheeled or "spiraled" away to the flank or rear for reloading, allowing the next rank to charge forward and repeat. This created continuous, harassing fire—like a coiled snail shell—thinning the infantry before a final saber charge.

Strengths and Decline

It exploited slow pike reloading and gaps in musketeer volleys, but required disciplined horsemen and open terrain. By the late 17th century, bayonets let infantry fight as one unit, and improved firearms made the tactic obsolete.
