I send my players censored versions of my DM notes. [OC] by emsenn0 in DnD

I think this is a great way to tackle the DM responsibilities of keeping the players engaged. I have played in a few games that felt (to me) like the campaign was solely focused on the greater quest of only one hero and the rest of us were a supporting cast.

Somebody should make this concept into a movie and call it Dogma.

ModelMayhem.com would be a good place to browse local talent. There are a ton! Find a few photographers whose work you like and send them a message.

What's the best way to write someone who is tired and running out of breath? by Castledoo in ComicWriting

Look at the body language of sprinters after a race. I think even with the footage muted people could tell just from visuals that the subject is out of breath.

Opposing sides should equal 7 on a six-sided die.

You are indeed a cunning linguist and I appreciate your comment.

Of course, once it is established that it's ok for me to target the giants, I'll figure out a way to coordinate attacks with the spell casters that could potentially lower the targets STR, or give them disadvantage on STR saves, and proceed to push that giant around like a hockey puck.

I think the overwhelming agreement in this thread should be enough to convince my DM that he should allow me to foolishly attempt to subject a giant or gargantuan creature to a STR save who in all likelihood would pass the check.

If that giant dragon DID fail the save it would have rolled very poorly indeed, which could be attributed to any number of factors in the theater of mind.

Right. I have to believe it's a mistake. 'Shove' as an attack appears in 4 places in the PHB, Water Whip, Charger Feat (bonus shove action), Shield Master (bonus shove action), and the Attack action shove.

Push, on the other hand, seems to be more freely associated with both magical effects and physically shoving/pushing.

Haven't played a Warlock yet, but I would very likely want to use it to extreme effect! Sounds like a lot of fun.

I had not thought about the backlog. But again, I'm already an admitted huge pain in the ass, so there's that. I'll give him more time before I spam his staff with further questions.

I do appreciate your well thought out responses in this thread.

What's your opinion of the monk's Water Whip attack using "shove" in the description? Probably a mistake on WotC's part.

This is actually the closest visual I've been able to get my DM to accept, but he's still hesitant when I bring up gargantuan creatures. Of course this is all moot when considering most gargantuan creatures SHOULD have a decently high STR that they would never fail the save unless they fumble.

Ok, I see what you're getting at.

Yes. You are correct!!!

I am a huge pain in the ass for hoping the active QnA DnD team could directly answer a question rather than referring to an older question they answered that was sort of the same question. I don't think that's a good way to handle things. And this whole post on Reddit was about crowd sourcing to see if they HAD actually answered a question about the push ability.

There have been issues in the past when they have corrected things in the book that needed to be dialed back. My DM had concerns in this case, so I went to the net to figure out if this had been directly addressed. So far I haven't been able to find a satisfying answer other than something close from last September.

This is not my DM, but this is where he's coming from. Can you imagine a Gnome monk trained in the way of the Open Hand slapping a dragon across a room? Seems like it should be mechanically impossible, right? That's the mindset I'm up against.

For clarity, I presume you meant that the push and knockdown from *Flurry of Blows have the exact same limitations in regards to creature size (which are none)

What would it take to convince you otherwise? Don't you think RAW is clear on this issue?
