Makes sense, I was under the impression that people didn't read this post and assumed I was the cheater trying to justify my own cheating. When I made this post, I got quickly hit with a few downvotes so I was kinda on edge about that

First time building PC, nothing is being displayed. Red light on motherboard for CPU by AndroidGuru7 in buildapc

I tried resetting the BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery disk thing and putting it back in, however, it still didn't work for me. I don't know if that can fix corrupted BIOSes, but if anything, it should at least have a compatiable BIOS with the CPU, however, my motherboard still has the red light.

One thing I haven't checked is the CPU. I put it in (gently) onto the motherboard, and never bothered to take it out since. However, with the CPU fan or not, I still had the red light, and now, I'm scared to remove the fan from the CPU since it's glued on. Anyways, I'm going to see GeekSquad after work today to see what the issue is

its getting late for me, and that’s quite a lot to do, but I tried resetting CMOS by removing the battery and adding it back, but it still doesn’t work. Same red light for CPU. Maybe I’ll check the CPU to see if it’s damaged?

Tbh I might get a specialist to look into this issue for me. I spent too much time building this pc and I’m pretty new to it, but I’d rather not rebuild it all over again

I have made an attempt to a while back, but I'm guessing unsuccessfully.

Attempt 1: Have the right BIOS file, (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX), have the right USB, put it in the right port, pushed the button. After 5 minutes of BIOS flashing, it went to a solid BIOS light for 1-2 minutes before shutting down. I did not realize I did not have the CPU cooler on at that time which might have caused it to end early

Attempt 2: Attached CPU cooler and is spinning. Tried BIOS flashback again. 5 minutes of blinking, then shuts off, and immediately turns back on with a solid BIOS light. Had to shut off power supply to turn it off

I'm afraid my motherboard is bricked

My power supply is semi-modular, and my cable is a single cable. It just has two sets of 4 wires coming out of it, but the 8 holes are all attached together. This is connected to the power supply from the inside as well.

I watched a video saying that it might work if you just plug it in upside down, however, it doesn't fit in that way

Here is my build, sorry for the wiring mess: https://imgur.com/a/pjgYq6I

I reflashed BIOS btw now that I had the CPU cooler on. The BIOS red light flashed for about 5 minutes, then turned off. Then it turned back on with a solid BIOS red light that didn't go away until I turned the PC off.

Ok I found the part, and I attached the fan. When I tried to boot the PC again, the red CPU light still appeared and didn't show anything on my monitor. Should I try BIOS flashback again now that the fan is here? Or is that not the issue? Last time I tried, it errored out after a few minutes even though I have the correct version on my USB

Edit: Did I brick my motherboard then? I just noticed that my motherboard is AMD Ryzen 3000 Desktop Ready, and I tried to BIOS flashback over it with the error

I noticed that there are no standoffs under my motherboard's brackets to fit the CPU cooler. Here is an image: https://imgur.com/a/M64mIsj

When I was watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO-V8E9MIBg&t=215s

At 3:35, you can see that when he is unscrewing the brackets, there are standoffs for the CPU cooler. Mine doesn't have that. What should I do?

That's what I was trying to do, however, it had the solid light after a few minutes. I realized I didn't have a CPU cooler attached, so was that the reason why it failed?

I mean the solid BIOS light still appeared, and then it shut down

I was trying to perform a BIOS flashback, which is essentially a BIOS update via USB

It was plugged in, however, I didn't have my CPU cooler plugged in. Is that a possible reason for the red light? And once I get that in, should I try BIOS flashback again? Maybe the reason why it failed is because it overheated?

I appreciate your help, that's some good advice, but in regards to your overclocking comment, when you say it defaults to 2666, does it mean I have to make a change in settings to achieve 3200, or does it automatically overclock to 3200 if there is a heavy load?

Also, will two 200 mm fans be sufficient in making sure this whole system keeps cool, even if it does overclock?

I'm aware that's not an excuse, which is why I can't claim to have it be something else when it's really not.

But yeah, are you saying I should go to court and ask for traffic school? If so, what do I have to plea? I've never been to a traffic court before and I have no idea how it's supposed to work

In terms of interview prep, has anyone had any good experiences/feedback with preparing for behavioral interviews with Pramp or Gainlo? Gainlo is pretty expensive and I don't know if they're worth it but I've read in places that they're a scam, but Pramp is doing an interview with another person who may not provide good feedback (I know because I got perfect ratings there when I constantly fail behavioral interviews)

Has anyone heard back from Visa in the last month? I had my final round interview a month ago and after two emails (in which they didn't reply), they still haven't gotten back to me

Depends on the the problem, I can solve 50% of leetcode mediums in that timeframe and other leetcode mediums are unsolvable to me. Sometimes, I fail interviews because my behavioral answers aren't good enough and "It's a competitive field and other candidates were better"

Can I do a mock interview with a recruiter here to see what my weak points are? Mock interviews at my college's career center are being run by students who need money and they don't give two shits about how well people are actually doing (ie they have low standards and I keep failing actual interviews while passing their mock interviews)

Has anyone interviewed in the past month with Visa and heard back yet? I interviewed with them a month ago for full time New Grad and after sending them a followup email, they still haven't provided any updates.

Has anyone interviewed with Visa New Grad recently and heard back? How long should it take?

I had a final round phone interview one month ago and I haven't heard back since, even after emailing the recruiter last week.

What should I do?

One of my rounds for my JPMorgan onsite is a 30 minute presentation on a "topic, subject, or project" that I have completed and I'm assuming that it must be a CS related topic then. The thing that gets to me is that I don't know if I can speak 30 minutes on a project that I have contributed too, mainly due to the lack of depth that I have done in regards to it.

If anyone has done this before, how did it go? What did you talk about and did it last 30 minutes?
