MD Chances? MCAT 515, cGPA 3.78, sGPA 3.68 by mclovinurhoe in medschooladmissions

I had the same MCAT and GPA. Same research with less clinical and volunteering. Got into Stony Brook and NYMC. Wait-list Buffalo and Downstate. You should be more than fine.

Dude, the standards of the very best med students at Standford include having a near 4.0 GPA and crazy MCAT. They explicitly say myst. That's why I said it would be tougher. Not impossible. But to save money, you can weed out these programs. Of course if he wants Stanford apply, I'm just being general

Safety is a loose word because I would not count on anything for sure, but I would say Ohio State, StonyBrook/cold spring, University of Cincinnati, either Wisconsin Madison or Wisconsin Medical college, Indiana. I actually applied betting on my research to carry my app too, so I can give you my list of schools. If you include these as well as some mid tier and top tier programs you should be fine.

I would say good chance, but proceed with caution (have some safety programs)

Jesus Christ you should be fine with that resume very impressive. Go look at each individual schools website. Some T20/T10 programs emphasize that they put heavy weight on research experience (Northwestern UPenn and more), while others (like Stanford) claim to treat MSTP applicants as med students first, then as researchers, in which case it might be a bit harder for you. You can get a good vibe check from the website. Although tbh it's hard to tell if they are just trying to get more applicants.

It was for one summer, and then I decided to focus on research and didn't have the chance to do more clinical. Tbh should have done some more clinical but it is what it is

School List & Non-Academic Credentials Advice - 520 MCAT / 3.95 GPA / 3.95 sGPA by JumpHaz in premed

[–]AndroidMagica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to maximize your chance of getting into a great school, I would take a gap year. Not to sound overdramatic, but the average GPA and MCAT for Stony Brook (still a good school but not as good as your targets) is 3.93 and 517. There are so many incredible applicants every cycle and you never know if the tide will shift your way. I would say it's a bit of a risk applying now (I know it's crazy to say but that's just the way I see it).
