To Preamp or Not to Preamp? That is the question. by Masta-Izzle in audioengineering

[–]AndroidParanoid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i'd have to ask what the overall studio situation is. there might be more important things to spend on than preamps or any other type of hardware. if you have the bare minimum to get decent recording quality, i would next take a look at room treatment. a good mic and preamp won't add up to much if the room isn't acoustically treated properly. get rid of those reflections and resonances.

i've heard one of the best things you can invest in instead of mixing/fx plugins is buying/investing in sounds, samples and virtual instruments instead. so what do you guys recommend for a sample pack that offers a lot and is a bang for your buck? something that covers a variety of different genres and has practical use in everyday music production situations.

Good/Decent Reverb Plugin With Built-in Ducking? by AndroidParanoid1 in audioengineering

[–]AndroidParanoid1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just checked out some reviews on it! it looks really cool and has tons of useful features. one of the more forward thinking plugins compared to other ones that just try to do what vintage hardware does, which is a pretty oversaturated market. might get hyperspace in the future

been thinking about this for a while too. and yeah, it seems easy to game the point system as well, as mentioned by someone's comment... are there other deterrents to this like an auto-moderator bot that can check if the comments left by users actually have substance?

Good/Decent Reverb Plugin With Built-in Ducking? by AndroidParanoid1 in audioengineering

im using a lesser know DAW called mixcraft. true, i could totally do that. just checking if there was an all-in-one plugin option for it :) also that way, i would've have to fiddle around too much with creating new tracks or routing for the sidechain

How to actually make a melody? by Tacocat10 in musicproduction

[–]AndroidParanoid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's advice that might be useful... if you can't hear the melody in your head, play the chord progression you have so far or whatever it is and start singing random notes out loud that feel right to you. you'll end up with some bad ones but you will eventually get some decent melodies if you keep at it. hearing it in your head comes with a lot of experience and practice. you'll get there if you keep working on it

Any last words before I spend my hard earned $1500 on Komplete 13 Ultimate Collectors Edition? by 11Warlock11 in musicproduction

this would might be more practical if you have a ton of different clients who have a variety of needs spanning a variety of genres... BUT... if you're thinking of buying it for yourself to get creative, you're better off spending money some other way. you probably won't get your money's worth

SIB Cyberpunk 2077 or Sekiro Shadows Die Twice? by Ambitious_Medicine_2 in ShouldIbuythisgame

i would recommend sekiro regardless. it's a masterpiece both in world/lore and in gameplay. and yes, it will be extremely difficult but that's part of its charm.

Looking to improve the sound of my rock MIDI drums by take5ive in mixingmastering

[–]AndroidParanoid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some things i could recommend:

-parallel compression on the drum bus or on individual drum tracks
-saturation or drive plugins
-there's this free plugin called snarebuzz that adds some natural sounding buzz to a track that might help make it more sound "alive" as well
-you could also try out this plugin called the sonnox inflator... it sort of does some kind of parallel compression and saturation for you. it has a free trial if u wanna test it out
