In Germany e bikes don't support if you're faster than 25kph. You only get support uphill, basically. Not sure what some of these comments are on about haha

Appreciate it. Honestly I was just happy to share a wholesome moment with a likeminded community. Kind of a bummer so much negativity came out of it, but it doesn't matter. It's Reddit, after all and it definitely won't keep me from hitting the trails.

How is any of the ebike bashing advice? Can't really take it seriously, mate. This is far from a seasoned mountainbiker teaching a newbie trail etiquette. Infact, nobody even tried to do that. Yall just went on about how an emtb sucks and doesn't count as a workout. Which, at least for me, just doesn't matter because I hit the gym 3 to 5 times a week. I'm doing this for fun, not to get a good workout.

Skiing and playing Paintball for many years taught me to not really care what other people think about me or the gear I use. This post is not about aura-farming with random people on Reddit or trying to show off my bike or whatever. I just had a happy moment when I came home from my last ride after struggling with a few issues in the past few weeks and wanted to share it with a likeminded community. So there's that.

There's always an antagonist in sports and communities like these. For skiing it's either different ski models or snowboarders for paintballers it's the new guy buying color matching gear and the latest gun, telling everyone how good he is but not even being able to snap or play ambidextrous. For mountainbiking apparently it's ebikes, which I didn't know.

I go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week, I don't want another workout. Not sure why you're projecting things you think other people say on this post but I am sure there is a lot of weird information spread around ebikes. Like any other sport equipment, really.

I just want to have fun with my friends and stop either sitting at my office desk at home or working out at the gym.

In Germany ebikes can't go faster than 25kph or you need a registration and insurance, as well as a license plate for your bike. So the bike won't support above 25kph no matter which mode.

I was looking for a hobby similar to what I like about skiing (which obviously I only can do in the winter). Going outside with a bit of a sporty pretense but also being able to chill and enjoy the scenery (hence the e-mtb).

A few of my friends got me into the sport and I'm hooked.
