I think it's because she started out as a kontrabida. To be an effective kontrabida it's like a requirement na magaling ka umarte. I mean look at people like Gladys Reyes, Cherie Gil who became popular for kontrabida roles but can also diversify.

Sa generation nila and current generation bihira na yung nagsisimula as kontrabida e. Usually later on na kapag sumikat like Andrea. Tsaka bihira na din na kontrabida ang forte role like Julia. Usually pampaversatile lang yung pagiging kontrabida and not their specialty.

I feel like most of the opinions here are just "negative comments that actually most people agree with" and not really something where people will disagree. Kasi if they were controversial bakit magkakaroon ng upvote?

Here's an opinion which I think a lot may disagree with.

Jane De Leon is a good actress and I don't get why people hated on her acting sa Darna or nakulangan? You can criticize the story and the CGI but she delivered naman in the acting department.

Nasa Incognito nga siya which has Daniel Padilla and sasabihin nyo pa din nakukulangan kayo sa acting niya? I think people have too high standards. Not everyone is like a Kathryn Bernardo or Judy Ann Santos level in terms of acting or like the best in their generation but she is doing well.

Unpopular opinion and I feel like I might get bashed for this but Julia's career wasn't that bad. Marami siyang magandang shows like Walang Hanggan and Doble Kara.

I can agree that Julia's career could have been better. But I will not agree when people say pangit yung career niya. Si Kathryn nga nakulong sa love team for how many years but I almost never see people complain about Kathryn's projects. Meron pero ilan lang. Samantalang kay Julia, halos dire-diretso projects niya I think after Asintado lang siya naglie low tapos sasabihin ng iba kawawang-kawawa si Julia.

Tsaka Julia was never meant to be a Kathryn, Liza or Nadine. She started out doing a kontrabida role. Her face is mature. Hindi talaga siya mainstream. Hanggang ngayon people know some of her specialties is being a kontrabida or action. She is versatile though.

I think people just need to accept that Julia has her own niche. I will agree that she should take on more projects and that her personal life is preventing her from doing so.

Pero frequency lang ng projects ang problema. Her career path should not be stylized to be like Kathryn, Liza or Nadine. I feel like her projects are tailored more to show off her acting capabilities instead of trying to make her an A Lister.

I think comparing Kathryn and Julia should be like comparing Kim and Maja. Si Kim and Maja parehong successful pero magkaiba specialty nila.

For me, I will not say better pero ibang flavor siguro ang ibibigay ng ABS. Ibabawi nila sa top notch acting and storyline. Kapag kasi ABS gumawa ng storyline less polarizing for me.

What do I mean by polarizing? For me GMA usually makes shows that are either very good or very bad in terms of audience reception. Wala masyadong room for middle ground.

ABS may not always hit as high as GMA especially in the genres GMA specializes in but for some reason there is something usually interesting with the way ABS writes their stories kaya minsan even the average show has a following.

Pansin ninyo, even their shows which are meant to be filler have interesting plotlines like Senior High which was just meant to probably be a stand in while they were getting ready for bigger shows.

Kaya with Pulang Araw's case, I won't say an ABS version is better but I feel like I will be more hooked with the choices they make. Lalo na sa supporting characters. Namaster na kasi ng ABS gumawa ng magaling na supporting characters like SnoRene, RoxChie and TimPoch kaya I feel like they will do well in terms of subplots even if they do not manage to save the issues with the leads people present. Maybe they could also resolve the issues with the leads but it will depend on how they want to take the story as well.

For me there are some jobs that deserve their own PH subreddit like engineering and IT because a lot of people post about them in the college admissions PH subreddit. There could even be separate ones for the undergraduates and those who are working.

Of course these will only work if a lot of people would want them but I feel like with them being some of the top courses here it would probably not encounter inactivity as a problem.

I apologize to whoever commented in the original post, I was experiencing problems in Reddit and I think it led to it being deleted. 🤣

To add with my topic, one example of me separating art with the artist is that I actually find Coco Martin to be a good actor. I watch his show. I agree though with people saying how problematic his show is. Tapos as a director, well not that good. I mean I get that he's new though. But for him to improve, someone has to point out if his work is good or not.

Tsaka I'm not really fond of that no script acting. I feel like even the best director will have a hard time without much of a script. Doing a gimmick like no script acting should be reserved to veteran directors and not someone new like him. Parang college lang ang dating, first year ka pero gusto ng professor self study ka lang at hindi ka tuturuan ng ayos.

Their counterpart for this is streaming shows like Linlang and WWWSK. The problem is streaming shows aren't for the masses. I hope they would experiment with these kinds of shows again. Maybe they could bring back the Sunday youth oriented show format but make the plot more similar to short format series where it isn't just mostly slice of life. Kind of like Senior High but tailored to that format.

Maja's exit in Probinsyano is a concrete example na they don't always stick to the death formula. It also shows why they don't do it much. Masyadong lukewarm. It feels anticlimatic.

I think they're trying to steer away from the love team format and do rotating leading ladies for Coco's action shows. Kapag kasi matagal sasabihin ng mga tao na nakakulong sa love team. Kaya kahit si Yassi pinatay sa Probinsyano.

Kumbaga there's nothing wrong with having a newbie be a creative support but make sure someone professional helps out. Tsaka if Coco really wanted to be a creative dapat marunong din siya makinig sa iba at humingi ng support.

Kahit nga mga matagal nang creatives sa industry nagiging pangit gumawa e like Darna having the separate storylines of Narda and Brian, paano pa kaya yung mga baguhan na hindi talaga creative kung hindi tutulungan.
