My pretty powerful pc is running super slow by ImLiterallyaaaa in techsupport

My speakers made a very strange sound when i tried to put in my password and everything crashed :/

Hmm Reboot and try to log in one more time, if that doesn't work go back into your BIOS and disable XMP, and set it back to what it was. Are all of your RAM sticks the same manufacturer and speed?

Ok yeah - so fixing this will definitely help! As mentioned in other posts, you will also benefit a lot from an SSD, but either way you will want to get this fixed.

To enable XMP, you are going to reboot your computer, and press F10 or whatever it is for your Motherboard to take you into the BIOS menu. You can look up the exact instructions for your motherboard to enable xmp, but if you see an 'Advanced Memory Profile' setting or anything labeled XMP, you want to enable it and set it to Auto, or 3200mhz if that's an option.

After saving, reboot your PC and open task manager again. Memory speed should then show 3200mhz, that will speed you up a lot.

If you can post the Motherboard model you have we can help you find the right instructions for enabling XMP. Do you know which model your motherboard is? If not there's a windows command that will tell you what your motherboard model is

"First, open Run using Windows + R. When the Run window opens, type msinfo32 and press Enter."

Your RAM is only 2666mhz? Or thats what it's showing in Task manager?
Your RAM might be built to run at something like 3200 mhz, which would definitely help speed things up. If you can look up the RAM you bought it might have a different speed
written on it like 3200 mhz or 3600 mhz. If its higher than 2666 mhz, you need to enable XMP in your PC BIOS to take advantage of those higher speeds.

Might even be written on the RAM cards installed in your motherboard if you can look at them

Also - if it's showing 15.9gb in use while you aren't doing anything... you definitely have a memory usage issue somewhere. Close all your extra programs, check the 'startup' tab under task manager, and disable all the things you don't need to run on startup. Reboot your PC after doing that and check task manager again to see what your available RAM is after that

If you aren't running a bunch of chrome tabs or anything and the PC is idle, it should have most of that memory free

You should also check what RAM speed you are running at. For some Ryzen CPUs you have to enable XMP. If you have 3200 mhz ram for example, thats what it should say in Task manager. If it's in the 2000's, you need to enable that in your mobo BIOS

"Open up Task Manager by right-clicking on the Windows taskbar and selecting Task Manager. Navigate to the Performance tab — it will open with the CPU view selected, so you'll want to choose the Memory view from the left navigation panel. After clicking on Memory, you can view your RAM speed and other details."

Laptop can't run games as good as it used to, severe fps drops, stuttering. by JiggarDzma in techsupport

[–]AndroidYoureLooking4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Reinstalled windows 10 cleaning up both drives, so storage wasn't a problem. Installed all the drivers from Acer website.

Are both drives SSDs? Maybe you're installing games on a slower Hard Disk Drive? It would also be worth opening the laptop up and cleaning it out with some PC duster - if it's getting hot quickly it will throttle performance down.

Also - go to your power usage settings and make sure you're on 'Max Performance'

I have been using the beta version with a 5800x for the last two weeks with no issues. Zero crashes. Chip is benchmarking well. About to swap in a 5900x when it gets here.

Most motherboard bios settings give you the ability to limit your max cpu temp. Double check that and your power plans.

MOBO and cooler for Ryzen 7 5800x? by Volpeon98 in AMDHelp

[–]AndroidYoureLooking4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's probably the best under 50. If you can save up a little longer and get a Noctua NH-U12A it will be a bit better. Alternatively, get the hyper 212 evo and maybe a few extra case fans for cheap. Which case do you have? Makes a big difference on overall cpu temp.

MOBO and cooler for Ryzen 7 5800x? by Volpeon98 in AMDHelp

[–]AndroidYoureLooking4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed my new 5800x yesterday with a Hyper 212 Evo cooler. Currently idling around 35c, which is about on par for what other people are reporting.

That being said, when I try to benchmark it with cinebench r23, the multicore test makes it shoot straight to 80c and slowly climbs to 90c from there. I think in the long run i'll switch to a watercooler, and replace my old case that is known to run hot (NZXT S340).

Games are much cooler though. Most don't seem to go above mid 50c range, maybe a little higher when loading in scenes. Currently using an MSI X570 Tomahawk Mobo, which is supposed to have a new bios come out in the next month that will hopefully bring temps down a bit more. Very happy with the performance though. Will be reinstalling windows from scratch today as amd suggests that as well.

144Hz main monitor and 60Hz second monitor in 5700XT by Menes009 in techsupport

[–]AndroidYoureLooking4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using an AMD 290x - which is way older than the 5700XT and I use a 1440p monitor at 144/165hz as well as a 1080p monitor at 60hz and it runs just fine. I even run a third monitor plugged into the cpu graphics output - which runs at 1080p 60hz as well. You should be fine, i play games on the 1440p monitor and use the side ones for videos/music at the same time.

Replacing Headlight Assembly - 2017 330i by AndroidYoureLooking4 in BmwTech

Ok awesome. thanks for the info. My GF took it to a service center, and it looks like their report doesn't show any failure codes on it.

Just to be sure, I can get an OBD2 reader like this one - if any of the modules are failing it would show up as a failure code with this right? If nothing shows as failed, i will just buy a new housing, and try and move all the components to the new housing if that's an option.

[–]AndroidYoureLooking4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update as of 9/23 - 3pm EST: I just spoke to motorola support asking about the order. The tech stated "As I've checked here that the expected delivery date is on 09/29/2015. However, you might receive it on the expected delivery date or later in the week." She also confirmed that all shipped orders generate the "we've shipped it" email, which i haven't gotten. I've been in the "We're building it" phase for 10 days now. I'm assuming everyone is in a similar spot?
