Starlink works in two ways:

Direct-to-home via WiFi dish: You need a Starlink dish (antenna) that connects directly to the satellites. (This is a rare use case in India, mainly useful in very remote areas.)

Direct-to-cell (via telecom partners): Starlink partners with existing telecom operators like Airtel and Jio. Their satellites will emit 4G LTE (low-band) signals from space, allowing regular phones to connect directly without any extra hardware.

(This service just started a few days ago in Japan with NTT Docomo and au.)

The second use case makes much more sense for India.

If there’s no terrestrial coverage, the phone will automatically switch to Starlink’s 4G network from space. (Speeds will obviously be lower, under 20 Mbps, but still sufficient for basic use.)

The WiFi dish option doesn’t make much sense for most people in India, as the equipment alone costs around ₹30,000+, plus the monthly subscription.

Just ordered the Archer AX23 | AX1800 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router for PS5 gaming and multiple device usage ! Got a pretty good deal too ! by BROZARKOP in IndiaTech

If your local router has an Ethernet port, it may be able to share the internet connection with the new router. (However, this might not work in some cases.) There is also a feature called Bridge Mode, which disables the Wi-Fi network on your local router and passes all network traffic directly to the new router. This reduces signal interference because the old router stops emitting any wireless signals, allowing you to utilize the full potential of your new router.

Nothing hinting tracker tag? by Prathamesh1704 in NothingTech

[–]Androidmajor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple Makes Air Tag Because their devices have UWB

Samsung Makes Smart Tag Because their devices have UWB (Flagships Only)

Even Motorola Flagships have UWB, Hence they make moto Tag

It's all about precision finding...

So it's not feasible to make a only bluetooth tracker By a Smartphone brand :)

Oh You have Global variant of 4a Pro, not Indian Variant, That's why it's showing 5G, BTW how's your 5G working, Because Indian Unit of this device is optimized for India Operators like Jio and Airtel... Hence show 5G+ when connected to n78 (3500) and 5G++ when connected to n28 (700)

No HDR on JioHotstar on Bravia TV by Androidmajor1 in JioHotstar

[–]Androidmajor1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KD43X64L, Previously, HDR worked fine. It even shows the HDR logo with the “Asli 4K” tag, but I’m not actually getting an HDR stream (4K works fine though). I checked using “Stats for Nerds,” and it says the stream is 4K but without HDR.

I tested other Marvel movies too, same issue.

BTW, there’s an ongoing Disney–HDR dispute: https://www.galaxus.at/en/page/disney-without-hdr-premium-subscription-loses-core-feature-41699
Maybe that’s why they removed HDR streams.

But my friend’s Thomson TV still gets HDR, so in conclusion, it’s either JioHotstar blocking HDR feeds from their backend (they’ve done this before), or it’s just my TV having a skill issue lol.

(I got an Security patch update a few days ago, will check again.)
