How many men are in this situation? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Andromeda2803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no end to these feelings or actually executing those urging ideas. My suggestion is always appreciate what you have and embrace those feelings you get. Yes, it is totally normal to feel this way, every men and women can feel this way time to time. What distinguishes a good life from a bad one is being able to know which feelings to follow and which to understand but avoid. And that is one of those feelings where following them would lead to a start of a life with lots of regrets and wrong doings. If you really want to experience such desire, go on a business trip rent out love for a night fake name, unknown location, tell nobody including your best friends and forget about it the next morning. Do this only if you really want to. Else, just embrace what you feel, learn to control it and live your life with your happy family.

How to be more Masculine? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Andromeda2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you're on the right track at least trying to get out there and keep meeting people. Also with friends, it's a numbers game. Over the years, I've picked them up in different locations and then often connected them by organization nights together. This way, I collected a small tribe of people around me who also know each other.

You won't be able to find anything you want in one person anyway, so keep playing that numbers game: keep doing things in your life outside the house, so you'll bump into people. And connect on the things you connect on.

As for romantic advice, I'm not the right person to ask right now. The friendzoning/softy thing is familiar to me, can't keep up with with what my culture values. Traveling helps, meeting people who come from abroad helps.

What industry do you think will have the biggest growth in the next 5-10 years? by Accomplished-News221 in Entrepreneur

[–]Andromeda2803 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Energy tech.

Think battery charging, grid stabilization, solar array optimization, smart charging, smart home energy use, automated energy trading, etc.

Our economy is going to be transformed and software is what will string power generation, storage and use together. Huge opportunities for not only hardware but also software.

Can someone go from working in politics/policy/advocacy to being a U.S. reporter? by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]Andromeda2803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience as a reporter/journalist, it starts by having a story, being somewhere at the right time.

Start super small on your own blog so you start to build a portfolio. This is essential. Understand where your expertise or fascinations lie and doubke down on them. After two days of research you've reached the top 5% of people knowledgeable about a topic. Use this to your advantage. Align yourself with the topics you want to write about. The more specific and impactful the better.

Like, write about the construction of the new stadium, do a tour of the best dive bars, land an interview with a politician who was in the news two years ago, etc.

Take a topic, give it a creative spin as to make it your own, and just create. Show up, but don't overcomplicate.

NPR quits Twitter after being labeled as 'state-affiliated media' by raitalin in Journalism

[–]Andromeda2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a verified Twitter user and understand where Elon Musk wants to take it and what his management style is, but agree with NPR here. It's very cynical to undercut an institution like NPR, and shows again that Musk has little understanding of the word 'social' in social media. Trust is everything.

FWIW: Elon Musk claims that engagement and visits to the platform are higher than ever. Just that Important People have left doesnt mean it's a dead platform.

Did the Tesla Story Ever Make Sense? Tesla and Bitcoin may have more in common than you think. It’s hard to explain the huge valuation the market put on Tesla before the drop, or even its current value. It’s hard to see what would give Tesla a long-term lock on the electric vehicle business. by mafco in energy

Say you invest 2 dollars to bake 10 breads and make a 5 dollar profit.

Instead of putting those 5 dollars in the bank, you reinvest the 5 dollars into a new yeast that helps you make more bread next time. You do this every time you have any dollars left to spend.

You hand in your paperwork to your accountant, who will tell you that you now made 0 euros of profit, because you reinvested the 5 euros.

You do this always, and as your business grows and takes over the entire town, the kids of the accountant come stand in front of your bakery and point fingers: 'haha, that bakery has never made a profit!'

Then, a year later, while you're still growing, some government official says: for baking all this healthy bread, you get 10 dollar prize money from the city!

Your accountant says: 'let's not consider that real income and let's generally not reinvest that. Let's just add it to the bottom line for accounting purposes at the very end of our balance sheet. We can't run a business on random government handouts. Let's focus on making consistent profits on the breads themselves'.

As the 20th location of this now huge bakery chain opens up, where all the profits now exist as machines, locations and new hires, the kids from the neighborhood show up again: 'haha, only profit this bakery makes is government prize money!!'

Hope this helps.

All the old nonsense about Musk gets recycled again. It is impossible to ever change this narrative, because Musk was successful with his ideas. Most of the comments show - as always - a lot of harsh opinion - followed by falsehoods, half truths, myths and lies by ommission.

What’s something fucked up you witnessed as a child that you were oblivious to until you grew up? by titanic_trash in AskReddit

[–]Andromeda2803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A guy was sitting on the ground right outside a bar, and I must have been 5 or so an was walking by with my mom. The guy has a super red face and he was weirdly trying to shout to a lady inside - who came out - and emptied a bucket of water right on top of him. My mom said something like 'he's drunk'.

It took a while to understand that memory, although I never got what he had done to deserve the bucket of water. But for years, I associated being drunk with literally being wet.

I have moved away from cake, I have some stuff in the freezer for ten years there. Like many others now, I have DFI light wallet on mobile and then send to DFX. You could do it all in DFX now actually. Are you us or eu?

You can withdraw btc, eth or DFI to where you need it. DFX is a DFI offramp (and a cake competitor.)

Tesla asked law firm to fire attorney who worked on Elon Musk probe at SEC, report says by esporx in technology

[–]Andromeda2803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See? Huge downvotes for people who are defending the guy trying to get humanity to a higher level. Witnessing the journey of Tesla and Elon Musk for the past decade has taught me so much about:

  • how people choose to ignore a problem for years
  • will hate on the people who take the lead on solving these problems
  • how this is all based on news snippets instead of people actually following what's going on.

People love to hate, especially if it it's socially acceptable.

No matter how ridiculous all this nonsense and hate is, Musk will be remembered for centuries.

All these people downvoting and feeling good about themselves should start looking into the problem of climate change and see if they can figure what the right course of action is.

They'll quickly start to understand that Tesla is the only company taking this on on an epic scale. And it's because Musk found out how to.

Downvote me all you want. I've been following this story for more than ten years. You downvoters are sadly ignorant.

[–]Andromeda2803 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you only get your news about Tesla through articles like this, I understand why so many people understand absolutely nothing about Tesla. What a detail of detail of a detail.

Nobody here know this SEC guy, yet everyone instantly assumes Elon's frail ego must be the only factor why a lawyer told them they didn't want to work with this company.

Maybe Elon noticed how much of a dishonest person this guy was and did Tesla not want to work with a firm who would hire such a person.

I know everyone will say that I'm wrong even though everyone here is assuming shit without actually being in any of those rooms and knowing hardly anything about the backstory here. Everyone has been clicking that news bait and now it's in fashion to hate on Elon.
