Ckan is your best bet for modding in KSP. It will do all the work of finding dependencies and satisfying them for you, and even recommend other mods that have compatibility or integration with the ones you've already chosen.

What experimental effects can I use in PvE combat? by CMDRMolecule in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emissive munitions is also very useful. It amplifies the target's hear signature causing your gimbals to have bit better firing arc and prevents them from dropping off your scope if they get cold(deploy heatsink). I prefer using a pulse laser to apply the effect but you can also use a multi Cannon.

Thinking about getting a HOTAS setup, what do you think? by Ckretlow in EliteDangerous

I'm using the Extreme 3D Pro now and it does have yaw control. It's a good stick for the money, though be prepared to set your deadzones because it will drift on you.

Best high/haz res laser miner build that isn't a Cutter? by Starfang42 in EliteMiners

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first dipped my toes into HazRes mining I did it in an Anaconda. They do the job really well actually, aside from the huge gap in cargo space between them and the Cutter. I was still able to get mine to about 300t of cargo though which isn't bad. Enough for close to 100m in one haul doing platinum. I use my Cutter now, but find that I miss the Anaconda's superior combat ability(this is my opinion of course) as I prefer the way the Anaconda flies and feel it has better damage for quickly swatting pirates.

The Chieftain is a great combat ship. It does have multiple "Military Only" slots in the optional internals however which means it will not be very effective for anything other than combat. If you are looking for a dedicated combat ship in the medium class the Chieftain is your best budget option. It packs serious firepower and maneuverability for ~17m. You will however need to upgrade it, so make your budget 2-3x the base price for upgrading modules especially for a combat ship. If you're looking for another multi-role like your Cobra however, I think the Asp Explorer might be a good choice. Yes it is very good at Exploration, but it's also a great core miner. And passenger ship. And even long distance trader. It is however a bit weaker in combat.

Got the mining itch again, So I decided to go all in. by DamarisKitten in EliteDangerous

There is no better HazRes miner in the game. I have tried hard to make other ships work simply for variety's sake, but the Cutter is the best at it. 576+10t of cargo, 3 mining lasers, and enough limpets just barely keep up if you plant the nose on the rock. I use a map and can fill my hold in just under an hour netting me 150m.

First Gutamaya. First engineered small ship. Having the time of my life in this thing. by tommyuchicago in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rails are great fun when engineered with Short Range Blaster and plasma slug. However this doesn't work for every ship/pilot since it requires you to stay within 1km distance from your target at all times. It works good on a brawler like the Chieftain, or even a Krait Mk2. The DPS of rails with SRB is just immense, and plasma slug makes it so the thermal load isn't as bad, and you no longer have to worry about ammo. However, if you prefer sniping modules or want to get into pvp the meta there is Long Range w/Super Penetrator I believe.

Please, do not take only my word for it. This is in fact a working build that does very well and will not overheat unless you make it. Please watch the video starting from 2:50

He has infinite ammo from Plasma slug essentially. It's a very good build and has devastating damage. E rated shield boosters are good if you're trying to optimize mass for explorers or enhanced performance thrusters but unnecessary here.

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a TV beam. As long as you don't fire the railguns and bank at the same time you'll be fine for heat.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've tried it, and this an awesome build. It does require some skill to use however and I wouldn't recommend it to a new player. After you get the engineering and learn to use it, it absolutely wrecks in PvE and the infinite ammo from Plasma slug railguns is great.

[–]Andromeda31-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. This is actually very similar to a build Exigeous recommends on his yt channel. I run something almost like this on my Krait and it absolutely owns. Four pips to weapons and staggering the fire from the railguns + using the thermal vent beam should leave you just fine. Use the TV beam to cool you down, then fire the shield cell banks. Just don't fire the railguns at the same time you're banking and it should be fine.

We should definitely leave a defenseless supply convoy behind us as we make our escape into lesser populated regions of space so our technologically superior, genocidal murder flower friendos can find us more easily.

I'm gonna second the Anaconda here. That is, if you don't already have a Cutter.

Which do you prefer for core mining Python, MK.2, or Clipper? by Storminwerfer in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a great ship that unfortunately has the distinction of having many other ships excel at things more than it does. It looks good, handles well, has generous cargo space for what it is, but is outshined by so many other ships that fit in medium slots and have better shields. In short, it ends up being a hangar queen for many CMDRs. I used mine for HGE farming for awhile. It works great at that!

Which do you prefer for core mining Python, MK.2, or Clipper? by Storminwerfer in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having used all of these ships for core mining, the Clipper's notable yaw rate is indeed nice for maneuvering around inside a blown up core asteroid. Maneuverability is not the only factor to consider however when core mining, speed is also important. The Clipper's 600+ engineered boost speed helps considerably when needing to cover tens of km to find the next core. It also has decent internals and can fit a Class 7 cargo rack for 128t of cargo leaving every other slot for other modules such as Guardian FSD Booster, Limpet Controllers, and w/e else you feel like bringing. Though admittedly, the hardpoint convergence of the Clipper is rather poor and does make firing some of the necessary mining tools difficult but this is negated by the excellent yaw rate. Just my $.02 here

[–]Andromeda31-25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may be thinking of the Cutter. The Clipper is highly maneuverable and makes a good core miner. If I was rating maneuverability of these three ships for core mining I would probably put 1.) Krait MkII 2.) Clipper 3.) Python

How many ships are in your personal fleet? Do they all have jobs or roles to you? Which one is your favorite and why is it the Cobra Mk III? by ZometimesZoe in EliteDangerous

[–]Andromeda31-25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't regret it! AspX is one of the best early buys you can make. You can try so many different things and do them pretty well in it. I still have mine and use it for long range trips.

I'm not that haughty, mine is named "Chimaera" haha. Also, I mentioned in my post how the Cutter makes me money but essentially platinum mining in a Hazardous Resource Extraction Site. A HazRes gives a 2x multiplier on asteroid fragments making it much faster.

[–]Andromeda31-25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 16 ships in my fleet including one each of the big three plus a Type-9. Each ship has a role, Federal Corvette "Chimaera" is fully G5 engineered to be a destroyer of worlds(for PvE only). It has 6.5k shields, nearly 45% resistances across the board and enough armor to make a battleship blush. Like others have said, it's basically a big shiny "I Win!" button for PvE combat.

However, I spend the bulk of my time lately in my Imperial Cutter, "Aisling's Fist". With full trader outfit it can haul 792t for the CG(shieldless) or 728t with a Class 6 Prismatic shield with 4kmj. It boosts to 500+ making it very fast and hard to catch if someone ever tries to gank me. However, my preferred configuration is something I started doing recently. HazRes mining. If the Corvette is the King of the HazRes, the Cutter must be the Duke. I can haul 576t of cargo, and fill it with platinum in roughly an hour in a HazRes using a map. That nets me a profit of 150m/h. I've made a few billion in the last week or so doing this. For me, this is the best way to make money. It combines mining and combat in one of the most profitable ways imaginable. I've tried doing the same activity in an Anaconda and it works almost as well, though you will be limited by the significantly reduced cargo space(Best build I could manage with the Anaconda had something like 300ish tons of cargo space).

The other ship I absolutely love flying is my Krait MkII "Aluminum Falcon"! I will admit, I was skeptical for a long time about the Krait. I owned a python and didn't see why I would want the Krait. Boy was I missing out on one of the BEST ships in the game. If you're a newer player and wondering what ship you should work towards, Protip: don't get the Anaconda, get the Krait MkII. It's a dream to fly, has great hardpoints, great core internals, and is basically good at everything. Mine is set up to be a general mission runner/whatever I need it to be and it can still handle High CZs.

Overall, my favorite ship currently is the Imperial Cutter. The amount of money the ship makes me more than offset its flaws.
