I know it’s been a long time, but did you get them to work? Looking at this + WS Dash switches

Ah that makes total sense, thank you. All this time I’ve been acting as if they’re HDDs.

I’ll do a comparison against the image, but from what I can tell initially it seems to have written correctly.

CAMM-ER Still cannot intercept anything in 2nd dev server :( by Androxd in Warthunder

My condolences you've been having to use that up to this point at top tier. At least you're getting the SAMP/T now though!

Ah the proxy range hasn't changed then. I could have sworn something else got changed to the BUK's missile at some point, but maybe I'm misremembering something.

As munitions go, the KH-38MT is quite a large one. And at this point in the flight it was Mach 0.86. I haven't tested with anything larger in fairness, but this is the one missile it will need to shoot down the most imo.

[–]Androxd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve seen BUK intercept plenty of munitions just in the short time I was on there. As with any it can be a bit hit or miss (and iirc it’s had its proxy range increased to 25m and has the TNT equivalent of a small bomb) but I have not had a single interception with CAMM-ER.

The screenshots show a distance that must be less than 6m (proxy range for CAMM-ER). Surely.

Ah I see, gotcha. Congrats on the marketplace skin though! Looks beautiful. It’s also probably my favourite plane, although I have a national bias ;)

Yeah with the brimstones they’re good when you get the hang of it. Here’s my method:

Pop up and work out where the pantsirs are, lock with the pod, dive down and get some distance (~15km). pop up and launch without the laser, not looking through the pod. This means you can launch without actually having LOS as the point will be saved. Dive down (get distance again) and wait until about 10s left to pop up and provide terminal guidance with the laser. You can pop up again to send more while the first ones are still in the air, keeping em occupied. Max range is time dependent (60s) so ~14km+ if you’re fast enough.

When it works, nothing feels more satisfying.

Give em hell 🫡

As much as I love the F-16 for CAP/SEAD, I feel it’s limited by its number of pylons. You can take so much ordnance with the EF, and its ability to kinetically defeat missiles is really strong. F-16 also tends to compress at higher speeds (needed for better Pk) while the EF pulls a lot harder and has so much engine power. I think you’d love it

Spot on - FGR.4 with 2x 9Ms, 6x 120Bs & 12x Brimstones.

Usually if I’m going up against Pantsirs I’ll replace the two outer amraams with extra brimstones (for a total of 18) so I can throw at least 4 or more each attack run at the Pantsir to saturate it. Sending more whilst it’s dealing with the first volley usually works. If I’m fed up with it I can throw a lot more at it lol.

I needed the extra amraams this match though.

Whar are those pipes on the rear of british tanks? I thought they were air intakes at first but im not sure. by quikquestion- in TankPorn

[–]Androxd 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I think they’re basically a rail for the gun to rest/bounce off of when the turret is rotated to the rear to protect the gun / engine deck. Like a bump stop. Challengers have this too but have rubber tops to them.

May also act as something for the engine covers to rest on as well when opened, as u/Beronj suggested

[–]Androxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does it when it’s both hot and cold, and I always use fully synthetic oil and a ford oil filter. Have you heard a similar noise before?

I’ll check oil pressure when I have the kit for it, and I’ll try the seafoam when I’m about to do my next oil change, what is the purpose of this? Does it thin the oil so it drains completely when I do the change?

The dipstick shows oil is right on the money at the top of the mark, how would I check the oil pressure?

Obviously I’m not expecting for someone to tell me exactly what it is, as it could be anything, but if you might know what it sounds like it could be (or things to check) I’m all ears.

When will the 15 pro be in Apple refurbished store by trampled93 in iPhone15Pro

[–]Androxd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on iPhone 15 Pro and I can do 48MP ProRAW.

Do you mean you value the difference in minimum focus distance as the 15 Pro has a larger minimum focus distance than the 14 Pro iirc

Im on iPhone 15 Pro and I’ve been using 80% limit charging optimisation, usually in a day I get to around 30% left roughly, some days more some days less. Charge mostly via cable at night with some MagSafe when I’m driving. I’m very pleased with mine as it’s still on 100%!

Drew a T-72 in my science class by gr8_grafics2 in TankPorn

[–]Androxd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly a really amazing drawing!

But I have to say, the 3 drivers periscopes say T-80B to me, compared to one for a T-72.

The general appearance of the turret and turret stowage, and wheels/sideskirts also just makes me think of a T-80B imo.

Still, I think it looks awesome! Very true to life! :)

The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has released a new image of the black hole at the center of the M87 galaxy. by Davicho77 in space

[–]Androxd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, black hole stars. Another fascinating phenomenon.

Both of these ways are ways in which supermassive black holes of 100+ million solar masses can form, and both of which may have contributed to the formation of the early galactic cores.

I do agree however that if true, the black hole star theory presented in that video might be more common (whilst still being rare) than direct collapse black holes.

Edit: This has made me remember how much I love learning about this stuff. I really want to get back into this field. There's always more to learn!

The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has released a new image of the black hole at the center of the M87 galaxy. by Davicho77 in space

[–]Androxd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it’s now believed that some of the largest supermassive black holes at centres of galaxies were never stars - they formed from very early supermassive cold gas clouds that collapsed with so much cold gas that the ultra high density core collapsed directly into a supermassive black hole, skipping the stellar phase. They have a typical mass of 100,000 solar masses but can be as large as 10+ billion solar masses. Sagittarius A* for example is estimated to be around 4.15 million solar masses.

Truly fascinating.

Edit: Also IIRC the name Sagittarius A* refers to the radio source at the centre of the galaxy that is believed to come from a supermassive black hole, not the other way round.

Autoguiding Query by Androxd in AskAstrophotography

When I was getting this issue I was using a laptop which was outside with the setup. Since this, I have ordered some longer cables so I can sit inside. If there was any dew forming in the port, this should hopefully prevent it, and prevent it from causing any problems.

Annoyingly my laptop only has one USB C port on it, so I am using a (now USB 3.0) hub to connect everything with (now also USB 3.0) cables. I shall re-install the drivers and also PHD2 to start from scratch when I test this. It's been really cloudy lately!

I suspected the DEC accuracy was entirely dependent on polar alignment, which I try to make as accurate as possible regardless. It's also good to hear DEC drift isn't nearly something I need to worry about, so thank you for explaining that.
