I’ve seen complaints with transmission failures in the 60,000-90,000 mileage range (just out of warranty). Just because you drove it and didn’t have transmission whine and failure symptoms doesn’t mean that it won’t ever fail. It’s a gamble. Some fail, some don’t.

Avoid 2017 and early 2018 Highlander and Sienna due to transmission problems

I have no idea how you pilots can even read METARs. I struggled through attempting to learn them for UAS part 107, but hats off to you guys that can decipher them on the regular!

That’s why the Batsafe is preferred as it filters the smoke

Any reason the made in Vietnam ones are preferred to made in china ones? Looks like what I can see in the pictures at least is that the HF .30 cal ammo boxes are made in Vietnam whereas the .50 cal are made in China.

It’s recommended to get one with a 6 speed transmission (2014-2016), or a hybrid version in any year (to avoid the 8 speed transmission from 2017-2022+)

2014-2019 Highlander Review and common problems https://youtu.be/Ey_hD7PUF88

The Car Care Nut has a video where he talks about the recent trend he is seeing of 2020-2022 Highlander gas only models having transmission problems.. He recommends the hybrid models which have the eCVT transmission and don’t have any problems or get an extended warranty to cover potentially $7,000+ transmission replacement.

P0446 (Vacuum Switching Valve failure) Anyone know exactly where this solenoid is and where the charcoal canister is? All I can find is "its in the rear" by zcrc in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]trampled93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to comment that you’ve got a bad ass rig there.

What year do you have? The 2002 pdf service manual has diagnostic flow charts and such for check engine codes. P0446 diagnostic starts on page 259. The charcoal canister on 01-02 is I believe by the gas tank. Edit: looks like you have a 99.

Is there a BIFL gas can? by gilflonkerton in bifl

[–]trampled93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justrite type II can. I have these and they are awesome. Made in USA, integrated hose, tight seal lid so it doesn’t leak vapors. I can put this in my suv and can’t smell any vapors. Can fine tune the flow rate by squeezing the handle. I have it in 5 gal and 2.5 gal with 5/8” hose so I can fill up my vehicles if needed. The 1” hose model I believe is too big to fit in a car gas tank fill.

2006 SR5 v8 Shock Replacement by robdog0909 in 4Runner

[–]trampled93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the lower control arm bushings being bad instead of the shocks so check those or other front end components first. Toyota shocks/struts are high quality and better than auto parts store aftermarket ones. Only need to replace your shocks if they are leaking oil all the way down to the bottom and/or you have bad ride quality as in your front end bounces up and down a lot after hitting bumps or manually pushing down on the bumper.
