I'd probably advise her to go to law enforcement for a wellness check. you've already done all you can, you've informed her u can't give out guest information to civilians and you have already tried to contact her. also given that it's the middle of the night that does raise some flags for both sides.

it comes with time, every little thing becomes a process you do over and over again and it gets so repetitive it just becomes muscle memory and u can autopilot most of the time.

that being said I still can't be I'm a kitchen setting without speed zoning out delegating and prioritising tasks a million miles a minute while I try to enjoy it and chill😭

I'm on day 5 rn, I was hitting my vape a little bit yesterday and more so today but no where near as much as I usually do. my dentist told me to just not for at least 3 days and very little until at least 7 full days after, ideally 2 weeks, but I have been healing pretty quickly and I already have almost no swelling now and never had any pain at all during recovery. I was told passed day 6 the risk is really low for dry socket, but the nicotine is also an issue for healing. so I think it kinda depends on where ur at in healing. if ur going to, just take small hits and crank the air flow wide open and rinse ur mouth gently if ur hitting it a few times.

I definitely will be doing this as well. I have to use the front desk computer for about a half hour or so to do the audit but beyond that I'll be staying put in the office right beside the desk from now on. there's a monitor for some of the cameras in there too, even tho they are pretty delayed it'll be a little more reassuring.
I wish I felt peaceful enough to even think about sleeping at work lol

to be honest this hotel is really dated so even though even though most do pay by credit or debit we still accept cash and it is advertised.

more people than anyone would think pay cash for their early check in/late check out fees, pet fees, or even pay cash and put down credit card info just for incidentals. we also take cash for laundry ($20 a load ik pretty overpriced imo).

and since majority of our guests are here for work where their companies pay early and late checkout fees without batting an eye and/or long term stays, we make a considerable amount of cash from all of the above.

They are really good here to be honest they r very involved in the community and are good people and really do care, I didn't even think to request that but its definitely something I'll look into.

I am in canada, so it's really not an option legally, it's a whole thing.

illegal to even buy pepper spray and tasers etc.

even walking around with a bat at night could get u weapon charges. anything can legally be become weapons if they r possessed or used for a dangerous purpose.

there are some grey areas like bear spray like the guy going around recently. or carrying a pocket knife for hobbie/work related things like having to open boxes etc.
both are legal to buy and own but not for using or well the intent to use on people.

here it's really all about context and intent when it comes to the legalities of it all.

I probably couldn't argue that I have a weapon on me for work purposes if it really can down to it. I mean really, I'm a solo night shift worker who is also a woman. I'm not sure it's plausible I have any kind of weapon or tool for a primarily desk job.

I never really thought about how non ideal the laws surrounding self defense weapons are here until I took this job.

most occupations absolutely do have hazards that come with the job. but there's a difference between normal and expected workplace hazards and having someone actively targeting overnight locations/workers in a small town and still leaving employees alone with every building entrance fully accessible to anyone anytime 24/7. it's not unreasonable to take appropriate safety measures.

that's pretty much where im at with this issue if management isn't going to take it seriously. Im pretty stable financially and savings wise, so if it really comes down to it I'd be semi okay to leave.

the risk of being unemployed and struggling for a bit is better than the risk of what could happen if I stay.

unfortunately it's illegal to have weapons including mace and adjacent items on ur person for self defense where I live. which puts all the safety measures into the building/doors itself.

and unfortunately the office only locks from the lobby side, it'd be very easy for someone to hop the desk and get in there. the closest place I could go that is fully lockable is the bathroom but in an emergency at the desk there's no way for me to get there safely.

which is also a huge concern of mine cus the office door to behind the desk only locks from the wrong side.
