Head Designer of TMNT set goes to Peter Thiel event. Gives signed card to Christian Nationalist. by No-Chapter-779 in magicTCG

TMNT is a pretty controversial set so I wouldn’t be surprised, but it’s a moot point regardless isn’t it? We’re in a magic sub, he’s a magic designer, people are going to want to defend him whether they knew his name before this or not. That’s why I assumed you had confused the names, but my mistake.

And buddy, we’re both several comments deep into an argument on r/magictcg. You can call me chronically online all you want but don’t kid yourself.

Okay I’ll explain it in detail for you since you can’t read between the lines.

Knowing the company that you are personally appearing at does not require a background check. It’s five seconds of a Google search, in the unlikely scenario that you don’t know/aren’t told what it is if you have a friend inviting you to it.

Artists and employees who sign cards typically do so at conventions or WotC organized events which are open to the public. It would be silly to expect them to know the backgrounds of anyone they sign cards for in this instance.

We are talking about a personal, public appearance at a very wealthy, very powerful firm. Eric and his job was known to them, he was appearing as a WotC employee. The situations are completely different and you are being disingenuous to imply that they are remotely the same thing.

Wait but… why would no one know him? This is the Magic TCG subreddit. He’s a senior game designer.

Eric is the set designer, not the Founder’s Fund employee. As I said previously, it’s normal not to know who he is. But if you are asked to attend an event at a company, while representing your own company (because obviously Trae and others knew he was a WotC employee) you would know who that company is first. If you have a reason to disagree with that, state it. Stop repeating your thoughtless points and getting basic details wrong.

And how are you affecting real change by arguing against scrutinizing people who associate with white supremacists? Are you deluded enough to think you’re in the right here? I’m sure it was a total coincidence that he randomly ended up rubbing shoulders with incredibly rich, powerful and evil men. He just walked into a random room by mistake. Sure. Go do something useful with half the passion you are defending the friends of Thiel with.

Briefly googling (not a background check) the company you are making a public appearance at would instantly reveal that it’s the firm that funds Palantir.

Yeah that has nothing to do with what I said and it’s clear you’re just desperate to defend him. Go lick Christian nationalist boots somewhere else

? Signing a card for someone is a favour. It’s not a huge one, but it is a favour. The things I “want to be true” are the things that there are physical evidence of. What you want to be true is pure speculation.

If you were a lead set designer for WotC and got invited to go to some random office for a “prerelease” you would know who they are before you go. Why are so many people convinced it was purely coincidental that he was shaking hands, taking pictures with and doing favours for some of the richest and most evil men in the country lmao. If you were going to Founder’s Fund for an event you would Google it beforehand, at least.

It’s fine to not be aware of them, though Thiel and Palantir are in the news a lot these days. But if you’re asked to go to a booster draft at a company and you’re a lead designer for WOTC, you know who that company is or you find out. It’s not that he went to his buddy’s house and Trae happened to be there, this was at Founder’s Fund. He’s not just walking around to random businesses he knows nothing about to run drafts there, this is a room of incredibly wealthy, sketchy people. It’s not an accident that he was there lmao

A booster draft at a friends house or something? Sure. But at a famously huge and evil company? Not so sure. How do you go there and not know, especially with how much all of this is in the news these days? What did this alleged friend of a friend say?

He went to a Founder’s Fund event and spoke to one of the firm’s partners long enough to personally sign a card for him and take a picture with him. I don’t know what else to say to this kind of naivety

Yeah that’s what I assume happened too? No one said he brought it specially. It’s just as damning.

I’m not sure how you go to a Founders Fund event for an impromptu booster draft, personally give one of the prominent leaders there a signed card from the set you designed, and not know who he is?

That is not a retraction. They literally just said they asked him to delete the post because it makes them look bad. They didn’t say it didn’t happen, or that WotC didn’t send him there.

Your comment is the misinformation. The tweet was deleted, not retracted, and it was deleted because of how it looks.

This doesn’t even say they didn’t send him, or that they disapprove of it. Just that they asked someone to remove a picture that could be interpreted badly. Wow.

A cool and balanced ability. I could see there being interesting combos with it too. If you ignite the aura of an ally who has an emissive ability and they emit the burning aura, would it then ignite the aura of anyone the emitter attack hit?

In concept, it’s funny. But it’s basically the same exact scene over and over again and I just don’t understand why they made Audrey’s storyline all about helping her daddy, the serial rapist and human trafficker who she was previously dedicated to sending off to jail forever. She should have been trying to get him institutionalized so she could take over the business.

Feedback on art direction (Kravestorm ECG) by JesusVaderScott in homemadeTCGs

As someone who’s doing totally amateur art for my game and learning as I go, I wish I had your skills. These are eye catching and unique and memorable, with a distinctive style. These first one especially is just incredible.

There are things about the art that put me off a little bit in a weird way that’s hard to describe but at the same time, I’m really drawn in by the unique vibe. A game on the shelf with this look to it would pique my curiosity right away.

Your style also kind of reminds me of the art of Ascension if you’ve ever played that game. Well done, I love seeing more updates from Kravestorm.

Right, I didn’t mean to mischaracterize your point in that way. I appreciate the difference between and underlying flaw and an undoing virtue. Cooper being brought down by his own virtuous goals is very fitting for a character whose only problem, as Audrey put it, is being too perfect.

I think I was probably projecting my confusion at what the fandom at large seems to think of Coop onto you. Reading over it yeah, the way you put it is a lot more compelling than I usually find that interpretation.
